The apartment offers the very highest standard of self-catering luxury and is located on an 'island' surrounded by the Tobago Plantations golf course. There is a swimming pool directly opposite the front door. The apartment complex is gated and entry to the entire development is controlled. WiFi is also included throughout the apartment and maid service on 5 days per week is included in the price of Ocean View.

There are two spacious air conditioned bedrooms both with en-suite bathrooms and an additional shower room and doors on to the terrace. Ocean View is situated at the very heart of the Tobago Plantations Estate. Previously known as the Lowlands Estate, which in times gone by produced sugar cane and coconuts, the 750 acre area has been sympathetically developed to retain the ecological beauty of the original lie of the land.

Tobago Plantations has two golf courses, the championship 18 hole course in the middle of which the apartments sit on an island, as well as a new 9 hole course better suited to the amateur.

Sitting quietly on the apartment terrace a number of birds can obligingly appear. Enjoy the nightly visits from the local Night Heron as he forages for bugs for his dinner just a few metres away. During the day lizards laze in the sun.

Beaches:

• LITTLE ROCKLY BAY - 100 metres from your door. Lovely long walks. Kite-surfing and wind-surfing popular on this stretch, shallow waters with good swimming, slightly depending on time of year
• PIGEON POINT - Club fee payable, but well worth it for quintessential Caribbean crystal water and coral sand. Food, drinks, sun-loungers available
• STORE BAY - Clear calm waters and white sand. Ideal for children and adults. Snorkelling too on the coral reef. Colourful booths and food available
• MR IRVINE BAY- 10 minutes drive away on the Caribbean coast. Lovely swimming and beach lazing, also surfing
• GRANGE BAY - Very good swimming, with surfing at the southern end. Long sandy beach
• ENGLISHMAN'S BAY - A delightful drive away up the leeward coast past Castara. Peaceful crescent bay with clear deep waters offering good swimming and snorkelling. A small but well stocked craft stall with simple food also to be had

Wildlife:

One of the joys of the area is to stroll along the pathways around the golf course enjoying the vistas out to sea and of the lush vegetation. Majestic palms lend a truly tropical mood. For those with a particular interest in wildlife there is a broadwalk winding through the mangroves on the farthest side of the estate.

The lakes and wetlands areas provide a natural habitat for a large variety of resident birds as well as migrants to these shores.

Places of interest:

• Scarborough, the capital has a bustling daily market where you can buy fish, fruit and vegetables
• The views from Fort King George above the town are spectacular and the Museum is well worth a visit
• Charlotteville on the north western tip of the island, is a typical local Caribbean fishing village, complete with fish market and stalls
• Castara village, with wide, calm sandy beach is now popular with visitors, boasting bars and stalls with a very local flavour
• The road from the west coast to the east coast across the island through the Forest Reserve (the oldest in the Commonwealth) is an interesting winding and hilly drive
• Arnos Vale Hotel offers afternoon tea with an opportunity of seeing a good variety of the local bird life which are actively encouraged to come to their feeders close at hand
• Five minutes away along the coast at Lambeau is Shore Things where simple lunches and teas and a variety of crafts can be enjoyed

Food:

• There are any numbers of good restaurants advertised in the local tourist guide - all within easy reach. It is also fun to try local specialities from booths at the beach and along the road offering roti, shark and bake, flying fish sandwich, crab and dumplings to name but a few.

Things to do:

• Diving, surfing, fishing, horse riding and golf are all popular pass-times
• Yacht charters are also available
• Some of the larger resort hotels offer spa facilities
