Guest Report - Sandy Point Beach Club

I traveled with my daughter, a friend, and two of my grandchildren. The islands were both a lot of what I had expected but the resort was not nearly as nice as many others that I have visited in the many years I have been with RCI. There was NO place to eat, no way to get to a place to eat, and no decent place to swim. The local people were very nice, but the employees at the resort were not cordial or considerate, much less polite and helpful. My grandsons Ipod was stolen by the housekeeper who cleaned our room. Our vacation was ruined.

We stayed at Sandy Point Beach Club in June 2007 with our family, having found it through myTobago. We stayed there again in April 2008 as a couple.
The property is well located in Crown Point: close to the shops, banks and main beaches. You can walk if you choose. It is also right on the beach itself, although not a great place for swimming.
The rooms are well equipped and very clean. The staff are helpful. The little extras made life so easy (coolers to borrow, bar-b-q available, shop on site which is as cheap as going off property). The free shuttles to other beaches are convenient and allow you to experience more of the island.
This year I realized a goal: turtle watching. A magical experience.
I am a corporate event planner by trade and am used to working with hotels and finding the things that are missing or sub standard. I really couldn't find any!

The Sandy Point Beach Club was quaint, clean, very conveniently located and offered a definite sense of security/safety. Quinton, (facilities mngr.) was extremely helpful, considerate & fun. The overall helpfulness/courtesy of staff was great up until about day 5, when they became a bit unorganized, confused and developed a lackadaisical attitude. But we dismissed it as "typical island personality" and had a wonderful time anyway. We were disappointed with the nightly resort sponsored "entertainment", but again that's not why we were there. The resort provided adequate accomodations, which actually exceeded our expectations for 4 adults in a studio unit. The kitchen was very well equipped with every necessity for any type of meal, which we did take advantage of. Our time-share exchange visit delivered our expectations of a no-frills, relaxing island experience. We got what we wanted – an inexpensive, slow-paced, fun-in-the-sun on uncrowded beaches, winter get-away. Pigeon Point was by far the most beautiful beach. Irvine Bay was great for snorkeling, surfing & coral/conch shell collecting. We have visited many carribean islands over the past 20 years & have to agree that Tobago is beautifully unspoiled and among the friendliest!

I had read thses reviews before going out and found the phot's a little outdated, so went without any expectations.. Now, when you think how little it costs to stay between a group of 6 adults.. Then this place was fantastic.. Very clean, apartment had just been refurbished and the place felt very safe.. Even the fact we were next to the airport didn't bother us.. The amount of flights coming in really don't get noticed over the day.. I was very pleased about the shuttle service to Pigeon point also.. I would reccomend this place to anyone and will certainly be going back.

Because I have had the opportunity to stay at several resort type locations, some more eleborate than others, I was not impressed with these accommodations. We were a party of three attending a wedding at another location. The villa (as it was termed), not really a villa, was very musty and hot. The only AC was in the upper bedroom which did not filter down to the lower level. There was insufficient lighting and linens. The sleeping accommodations were also not appropriate.
