Sandy Point Beach Club - Reader Reports & Opinion

Outstanding

Stuart & Bonnie Allbaugh from U.S.A. visited in March 2007 and awarded  Five out of Five

The is a delightful destination, well-managed and maintained by an organized and efficient staff. Its unassuming appearance belies a resort that provides the guests with a sense of commuity and sevice without the pressure of having to patronize.

From orientation to departure we were treated as guests, not just another tourist. The day trip to the rainforest with Leroy as guide/driver was an education in Tobago history, culture and geography. He was patient and entertaining with the young people. Doug and Andrew (Frotier Dive) were thorough, and proved to be a top-notch shop for our diving.

One of the most delightful experiences was dining at the restaurant. Julianne's meals were excellent and we found ourselves returning to enjoy the food, the service and, of course, the view. Don't let this go away.

A 5 star resort is one that provides services and amenities beyond expectations. Sandy Point Beach Club fits the description.

Guest Report - Sandy Point Beach Club

Shirley Mccarthy from Canada visited in February 2007 and awarded  Three out of Five

Sandy Point Beach Club was very nice. The units were a good size and very clean. The staff at the Club were wonderful and very accommodating.

The only "negative" was the beach and we knew that before we went there ... still you kinda wanted to go in the water and it is not a swimming beach.

The resort offered FREE transportation to some great beaches the best was Pigeon Point. It is truly amazing.

I would go back to this resort.

Sandy Point Bc - Clean, Comfortable And Relaxing

Bill Brunner (BILL B) from U.S.A. visited in January 2007 and awarded  Four out of Five

This was our second stay at Sandy Point (the first being in 2002). It is not a fancy glitzy resort; rather it has a more authentic Caribbean charm. We had a 1BR unit and while the rooms are a bit small they were more than adequate for just the two of us. The view from our patio was exceptional overlooking the pool and then the water beyond.

The rooms were recently updated, were very clean, and daily maid service was very good. The grounds are beautiful and meticuously kept. Overall the resort has a very comfortable and relaxing feeling.

The restaurant on site (open for breakfast, lunch & dinner)served decent meals, albeit a little expensive in relation to other restaurants in the area, and was hard to beat for the convenience and the great location overlooking the sea.

We found the entire staff to be very friendly and accomodating. The resort also had planned trips and evening activities on most days.

While the beach at the resort is not good for swimming it is only a 15 minute walk to a good beach at Store Bay and daily free shuttles were offered to Mt Irvine and Pigeon Point. The resort is also only a 15 minute walk into town where there are a number of shops and restaurants.

In total a very enjoyable place to stay while in Tobago.

Tobago Is The Preferred Caribbean Island For Us

Joyce Elliott from U.K. visited in April 2006 and awarded  Five out of Five

We stayed here in 2003 for 2 weeks and loved it so much we returned in 2006 for 4 weeks.

The staff on site are absolutely brilliant, every one of them. Our maid came in every day and was so lovely and helpful.

Elvira, who is in charge of trips and entertainment will arrange anything you fancy doing and is such a character.

Restaurant on site was excellent, a little more expensive than local restaurants but worth it. Shop on site has most things if you want to self cater and are really helpful.

Relaxing and taking everything slowly is the order of the day. The beach and facilities at Pigeon Point are excellent. Store Bay is a ten/fifteen minute walk with lots of local eateries if you are feeling energetic. Lovely beach lots of local people. There is a shuttle service if preferred.

Super coffee/scrummy cake shop opposite the airport.

We dived every other day with Frontier Divers on site and cannot praise them enough. Dougie and his team are special and took the boat out even when we were the only two people diving.

We must like it there as we are going back for another 4 weeks in 2008.

Not All That Impressed

Bryn Sealy from Canada visited in April 2006 and awarded  Two out of Five

We find the actual resort quite nice (as far as the grounds and the units). This was our third stay at Sandy Point Beach Club. We were really put off by the attitudes of the staff this time. Every request seemed too much for them to handle. The maid service was horrid. Our unit was never properly cleaned until we asked for it. In the two weeks we were there the toilet wasn't cleaned at all. The floor was only swept at the end of the first week when we asked for it to be done. The maid actually had the nerve to suggest that I wash the sheets myself. They are overly concerned with details that don't matter and in constant search of 'drama'. We were called several times to remind us when we were leaving (as if we don't know!). It made us feel like they couldn't wait to get rid of us when we still had 4 days left!

The staff need to be seriously trained in customer service and the importance of treating the guests well.

The general feeling we got was that it's a timeshare so they already have our money so why go the extra mile to ensure we have a good time?? They know most people will be back because they own there.

Bryn
