Guest Report - Little House On The Hill

Carol Davies from U.K. visited in March 2008 and awarded  Three out of Five

Beautiful surroundings. Wonderful watching variety of

birds feeding whilst sitting on verandah. Cottage does

require a lick of paint inside and minor improvements- holes in mosquito nets, very little storage space. This

did not affect the enjoyment of our holiday however. Very good value!

Smaller, newer cottage built next door was close(1m) but as it was empty did not affect us. We actually booked the cottage before this was built and was a little concerned, but after reading your report my fears were allayed. However,I don't think I would have liked a next door neighbour so close...

Maggie and Sherwin very friendly and helpful.

We hired a car and visited most of the island. Castara is a a beautiful place, totally unspoilt. Maggie's restaurant in the village was a great place to eat – cooked by Sherwin.Had a great time.

Guest Report - Little House On The Hill

Alison & Robin Dent from U.K. visited in January 2008 and awarded  Two out of Five

Altough we had made a reservation to stay at little House on the Hill, when we arrived at the property we realised that it was not the place for us. The accommodation was quite rustic and just a little run down, but looked clean and comfortable. It is quite a long walk out of Castara, up a steep hill, and apart from a mosquito net over the bed there was no protection from insects at all. The property has charm and character but I would suggest it would appeal to a younger age group.

Castara Once Again

Lee Jones from U.K. visited in November 2007 and awarded  Five out of Five

Second stay with Marguarite and Sherwin – excellent hosts, wonderful cottage – and thanks to Sherwin for waiting 4 hours at the airport for our delayed flight – that certainly could not be expected from everyone – thanks Sherwin!

The Little House on the Hill offers peace and tranquility in a romantic setting. Plenty of restaurants in Castara but Marguarita's restaurant is a must – don't miss it!!

If you are looking for water fun then ask Sherwin about his boat trips – snorkelling, fishing, swimming, BBQ on beach (this Sherwin with his chef's hat on!)

Myself and my husband Clive have enjoyed our second visit to Marguarita and Sherwin and plan to return next year.

Our friend also stayed in Little House No.2 – the one bedroom cottage – and can also recommend this cottage – very comfortable and everything you need to make your holiday enjoyable.

Had a wonderful time touring around the island in Sherwin's hire car – please check this out when booking – excellent rates, air conditioned and doesn't struggle up the hills!

My Stay Little House On The Hill, Castara

Jenny Hughes from U.K. visited in November 2007 and awarded  Five out of Five

Well, what can I say – my two week stay was delightful – we were made very welcome by Marguarita and Sherwin who proved to be welcoming, friendly and very helpful – nothing too much trouble! The accommodation was ideal for our group and I would certainly recommend to others.

Hopefully I will one day come back to Castara and definitely stay with them again!

My little house No.2 had one double bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen, patio & porch and I would certainly stay again and recommend to anyone who asks. The facilities were excellent and I would come again and again and again – none better!

PS Marguarite's restaurant can certainly be recommended as well – just try it!

Repeat Visit Says It All

Nick Bradbury from U.K. visited in October 2007 and awarded  Five out of Five

We first stayed in October 2006 for two weeks, and enjoyed Castara and Little House on the Hill so much that we did exactly the same this year. In the meantime the smaller cottage was built and as far as we are concerned has had zero impact. Not quite true as the building entailed the cutting down of a golden apple tree which provided much fruit the previous year.

We are a family of four with two boys, 10 and 12 years old. They are still of an age to share the second double bed. The things we enjoyed particularly about the cottage were:

1)the hammock for lounging with book and drink

2)the balcony at the front, perfect for sitting out in the evening and first thing in the morning

3)the side area with outside table and benches perfect for breakfast

4)Maggi and Sherwin, very amiable and helpful hosts. Sherwin runs 2 boats and we had a fantastic trip fishing with dolphin fish and kingfish being caught.

5)the quantity and variety of wild life about the cottage and garden, mainly birds and lizards

6)the garden with all its fruit – mangoes, limes, bannanas, papya, lemons, and avacado

7)the big fridgefreezer for non stop supply of ice and cold drinks

8)location means it catches the breezes and makes it seem cooler and perhaps explains lack of biting insects, I think this is big plus compared to some of apartments in Castara

9)location – not in center of Castara and yet not too far from

10) provision of barbecue

I cannot think of many downsides – the steep access, would not be not ideal for everyone, sometimes there can be a lot of early heavy traffic with associated road noise, some neigbours at times played loud music, which again may not suit everyone.
