Guest Report - Coco Reef Resort

My girlfriend and I took a vacation trip to Tobago as she had never been to the island. The Coco reef resort and spa was our choice after considering a few guest accommodation ideas.

Upon arrival at the resort we were greeted by courteous staff and front desk personnel. A welcome drink helped pass the time as awaited our room after requesting an early check in. The room was spacious and inviting. The bed was covored with flower petals and small leaves in an interesting arrangement that said "A Warm Welcome". Being pampered never hurt anyone and they were clearly prepared to go that extra mile. Staff were always pleasant, courteous and repsectful. The man made beach is very attractive and great for swimming without having to worry about strong currents and deep water. Drinks were available while you sat on the beach and the pool was just a few yards away.

If you intend on dining at Tamara's restaurant remember guys, walk with polo shirts or anything with a collar. We even added one extra night to our stay as the time went by so quickly. The room was cleaned twice daily by yet again very courteous staff. Equipped with a social director's office that contained books, board games, brochures and general information on the island and tours this added a very homely touch to all the amenities that make this such a great retreat. We found the bar a nice hang out at night with relaxing music and cigars also available.

This was a very good vacation getaway. The hotel was walking distance from the airport, a local grocery, local food vendors, bars and beaches in one direction and a bank, laundry mat, and restaurants in the other direction. Needless to say it was a great location and public transportation was right at your footsteps as you walked outside the hotel.

Great value for money and good for anyone who can afford a stay at this prime vacation spot.

My husband and I have visited Coco Reef every year since our first trip to Tobago in 2001. Having been to a number of other Caribbean islands we totally fell in love with Tobago and the great atmosphere of this hotel. The staff are amazing – always remembering us from previous years which immediately made us feel at home. Sadly my husband died early in 2007 but needing a break from everything I decided to return alone to Coco Reef in May 2008 and how glad am I that I did so. The staff made sure I was 'looked after' and although I did eat by myself some days I also made new aquaintances with whom to dine at all times of the day which in turn gave me new memories to reflect on. In 2009 I am returning yet again with my daughter and teenage grandchildren to enjoy the delights of Coco Reef yet again and they too are looking forward to snorkling and relaxing at this wonderful resort.

Accommodation overeall wan't bad – it was just the attitude of the staf who I found at tmes were rude, to the point that i actually complained to the manager. Food was disappointing, pool area basic and garden room (suite) overlooked a tiny bit of garden, no view whatsovere and was a haven for mosquitos. Also, on the day of our departure we had great difficulty in securing a room so that we could check out later in the day, despite having a baby. I would not recommend Tobago (Coco Reef) as a relaxing or enjoyable holiday destination.
