Hilton - Whay Is Included With "all Inclusive" 05 May 2004
Juliette White from Jersey Channel Islands
Hi – can anyone who has visited the Hilton explain exactly what is and is not inlcuded with "All inclusive". Every travel web site I visit has a different definition. Are some restaurants excluded or just menu items ? what drinks do they really exclude.
Great site by the way.

We have just spent 14 days at the Hilton and I cannot fault this hotel at all. We travel extensively (147 nights in hotels in 2003, and 136 in 2002), and this Hilton is up there as one of the best.
All the staff were fantastic and nothing was a problem. Some of the criticism we have seen on this site is understandable , but this has not been our experience
Everywhere was spotless and the room was cleaned twice daily on occasions. Fresh towels were available 24hrs. All facilities in the room (including tea and coffee) were available and replaced daily.
You have to remember that this is the Caribean and life is a lot slower. Having said that Tobago is a lot quicker than Barbados.
Whilst we were there there were a large number of celebrities staying including the Duke of York on the day of my birthday. With this in mind we were amazed at the level of attention we received. Champagne, a basket of fruit and goodies with a card signed by all the management team.
We could list the names of over a dozen of the staff who went out of their way to please.
If you go to this hotel and have a problem (no matter how small) – tell them! They pride themselves on customer service.
If anyone would like further information, or personal contacts at the hotel please feel free to contact us.

I have just averted disaster, I think?, we were booked to go to the LGC in July/August but having read some reviews and heard about the outlets on the beach we switched to the Hilton.
Question where is the post from Neil about his disasterous start in the LGC?
Anyone been there recently? Hilton that is? ![]()

Hilton - Hotel Review
Neil
My partner and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hilton, following an under-par start at Le Grand Courlan (see my post in the LGC forum).
I will try and summarise the pluses and minuses as we experienced them:
The Room
Bathroom was superb, with marble fixtures, a fantastic power shower and great cleanliness. Towels pool and bath towels were replaced daily, and complimentary Neutragena products replacedthroughout our stay.
The room and furniture itself was in very good condition and was cleaned daily.
Our only gripe (a very minor one) was that the tea and coffee stocks in the room weren't replaced at all during our stay. We just ended up replacing them ourselves from the breakfast buffet.
The Food
Definitely a big plus. We had taken the all-inclusive option (a real money saver, as the Hilton prices are quite expensive) which we took full advantage of. The breakfast buffet was extensive, and as a result often resulted in us not needing to (although we often did) eat at lunchtime. Our favourite place to dine was the Coral Reef restaurant which offered a great a la carte menu, and particularly friendly staff (see service below).
Service
Service was sluggish at times (particularly in the Plantation restaurant), but wasn't a problem to us as we never felt that we wanted to rush any part of our holiday. I have to make a special mention of the service that we received in the Coral Reef restaurant from the staff that we befriended. This included the Chef (Sri-Lankan) taking time out to meet us and discuss personally our likes and dislikes as vegetarians. He then proceeded to 'create' a different dish every night especially for us!! Likewise, the restaurant staff, discovered that it was my 30th birthday whilst on holiday, and secretely arranged a cake to be made at no extra cost!! This and other little touches throughout our stay really helped to make this holiday memorable.
The Beach and Sea
This is quite eroded and littered with a new batch of jetsom (included a very unfortunate dog one day!!) every day. Despite this it was a pleasant walk to get away from it all. The sea is one of the roughest spots on the island, although I particulary enjoyed this for a spot of body surfing. (there is a free transfer to Pigeon Point for those of you that want stiller waters).
The Hotel and Grounds
The Hotel has taken a fair battering from the Atlantic sea spray, resulting in most of metal fittings showing signs of rusting (this hotel is going to prove costly for the Hilton to maintain). The stairways are particulary slippery as a result of the seaspray and so must be negotiated very carefully (The tiles on the main stairwell were being replaced whilst we were there to help the situation). The grounds are pleasant and well kept and the Golf Course seemed in much better condition than the Mt Irvine course.
Overall, we we extremely pleased with our stay, and would definitely stay there again, should we have the opportunity to return to Tobago again in the future.

The Wind Problem At The Hilton Tobago!! 11 Apr 2003
Abby from Warwickshire, England
Can anyone who has visited the Hilton Tobago let me know if the wind from the Alantic really does cause a problem to sunworshippers. I have reviewed several accounts now, some saying that the wind is more of a breeze and others claiming they struggled to breathe in it!!!
Is there a particularly bad time of the year to go when the wind really picks up?? I intend to pay the Hilton a visit in May, in general is it safe from the strong winds at this time?
Thanks
Abby
