Guest Report - Young's House

Jarka Nova from Czech Republic visited in May 2008 and awarded  Three out of Five

Young´s house is a nice place almost on the beach. From terrace you can see many birds, but doesn´t have a sea view. There is a boat house and internet coffee short walk away. We enjoyed our stay although the house needs some small repairs. Iris and Chester are very nice and helpfull. I would recommend you this place if you are looking for a quiet holiday.

One could easily imagine, that not so long ago this likeable house must have been situated amidst quite an idyllic scenery. Lately new, inharmonious dimensioned guesthouses and cottages have been built nearby, which somehow disturbs the spot, and the construction works seem to be continued. Young's house is still a good choice if you are looking for an individual, secluded place to stay in Castara and love to watch Tobago's amazing birds on your porch. The beach is nearby but the view of the sea is obstructed.

Amiable Iris and Chester are doing their best to keep everything in good repair and will attend to your concerns promtly.

Even though house and kitchen are basically well equipped, our idea for improvement was: at least one closet or a wardrobe on the first floor to get one's clothes and things cleared up and a cupboard in the kitchen, to keep out insects, spiders and dust from foodstuffs.

All things considered, Young's house gave us a convenient and friendly impression in a surrounding that is starting to change it's character.

Young's House Castara

The Millington Family from U.K. visited in May 2007 and awarded  Four out of Five

We stayed at Young's House for a week in May this year and had a wonderful, relaxing stay.

As Iris and Chester were away for our stay Sharon from The Boathouse showed us around and made us feel immediately at home. The house suited our needs perfectly. It is lovely and private and because it is a real family home we didn't ever feel like guests, it became our home for the week with all the personal bits around, books and games etc. There was also a mobile phone for us to use which was great for booking things (we just topped up with a few TT$). It is basic and unfussy which was exactly what we wanted. Everything was just as it should be for a real beachside property.

Yes, the house is a bit strange with its separate upstairs and downstairs, but as our children were old enough (10 and 12) this was not a problem although had they been any younger we may have felt a bit worried about having them so far away. As for the kitchen being downstairs, that was no problem either.

The wildlife just outside (and inside!) the balcony area was amazing. We watched a baby bird growing in it's nest less than 10 feet away from us, we had lizards, all sorts of birds and I managed to overcome my bat phobia as they flew all around at dusk. Also, watching fireflies in the trees at night was magical.

We would definitely recommend a stay at Young's and will no doubt return one day.

Guest Report - Young's House

Hoogeveen from Netherlands visited in December 2006 and awarded  Five out of Five

We had a very nice stay in the Young's House close by the beach of Castara. It's a basic house with full kitchen facilities and has all the charm of a rainforest retreat, although it is walking distance to Castara.

Positive experience:

- Great veranda

- Full kitchen facilities

- Much privacy

- Close to beach (50 m)

- Affordable

Excellent Location And Price

Lori McDonald from Canada visited in March 2006 and awarded  Four out of Five

I, Lori McDonald, one of three ladies visiting from Canada would like to comment on our wonderful stay at Youngs House.

Iris and Chester were most welcoming and the house was more than sufficient to suit our needs. With the beach only 25 meters away and the Boathouse restaurant open almost daily for the duration of our stay, we had little reason for leaving the safety and security of our lovely vacation home.

There is a water pump that makes some noise at night, so just be sure to ask how to turn it off before you retire for the night. The only other thing I would request the next time I stayed was for a few more pots and pans. There are lots of friendly locals around and it would have been nice to cook a few more elaborate meals.

I have stayed at Beach house before and they are very comparable (beach house costs a little more). Youngs house has more space and can accommidate more people traveling together. I would very much like to return again and will not hesitate to recommend Youngs house to my friends and family.

Thank you Iris and Chester,

We will see you again as soon as time wills us,

Lori, Lori, and Sarah
