Heavenly Bay, I trust I finish up there. Angel apartments were ideal for a couple in their early fifties looking for time and space to relax from all other of lifes problems. The location and access would not suit everybody, fortunately in my view, because there is just a chance that this idealic location will remain as such for those who trully appreciate it. For those who do happen to need a quite and relaxing location and are happy to enjoy not having everything immediately to hand, as so many of us now believe it should be, this is the ultimate. Relax, relax, relax. Unable to source xyz, so what. It is warm, rain or shine, it is quiet apart from the occasional sounds of laughter from the beach and if you are very lucky, you have the beach to yourselves. Having been lucky enough to travel to many different locations around the world I cannot recall anywhere to compare with the tranquility and complete enjoyment of Heavenly Bay.

Very Satisfied With Angel Apartments

We stayed at Angel Apartments for 9 nights on the top floor with the best view possible from the HUGE balcony. We had rain showers almost every day and the balcony was a real rescuer.
The apartment was well equipped and very cosy. Very spacious! The staff was extremely helpful, you only have to ask once and they will do everything to help.
Other comments:
If you want action of any kind – this is not the place. It is really quiet and nice. No loud music and noicy people on the beach. The beach is small but nice. Keep to the left in Heavenly bay, there are less stones there!
The Boat House restaurant is nice for breakfast. I do hope that they will have the permission to sell alcohol again, it makes things much easier (even if you could bring your own).
Shopping for food is an adventure. There are no shops at all in Heavenly Bay and the hills to Castara bay are steep. If you don't have a car (we didn't) listen to the advice to stop by Pennysavers supermarket on the way from the airport (we didn't...).
These are examples of what you can expect to find in the shops of Castara:
eggs, butter, canned tuna, tea bags, water, bread, soft cheese, snacks, tomatoes, onion, melon, lemons, beer and soft drinks, salt/pepper, deodorant and soap etc.
NO meat of any kind, bacon, ham etc. Fresh fish can be bought from the fisher men in Castara bay.
Don't get me wrong. We really enjoyed our stay. I got op with the sun every morning, an early morning walk some days, yoga and feeding the birds on our lovely balcony, with a cup of coffe and a book. And since there is literally nothing to do at nights (except hanging at Mr Wallace's place) :) I fell asleep at 9 PM at the latest.
Few people is the best in all ways but one. We were a bit disappointed in the variety of restaurants. But thinking about it – you can't expect more with only maybe 50 tourists staying there.
Try the restaurant at Blue Mango – a bit "under construction" at the time but very friendly and the best food in Castara in our opinion! It's amazing what they can accomplish in a very limited space.

This block of apartments is a gem we were treated with respect and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. very relaxed atmosphere perfect setting we did not want to leave we enjoyed bying the fish caught that very day and smpled the local food we were never disapionted with the quality or mthe service. The local people are genuinly please to invite you into their world. Someone from the village in castara even acted as a guide and took us through the Rain Forest.
We sailed over to Trinidad and caught the ferry back it was truely a holiday of a lifetime and we are looking to go back very soon

Angle Apartments is well worth the stay, for the following reasons:
• Located in a lovely area of the island – away from the busy tourist areas in the south
• Very friendly, accommodating staff
• Adjoining room-balconies with sea views (top floor)
• Super large bathroom, spacious lounge/kitchenette and comfortable bedroom
• Charming chickens that sing loudly (next door neighbour)
• Very friendly neighbourhood dogs and cat that are ready to play!
• Good sized pool to relax in
• Extremely close to the bay (almost a private setting) with an adjoining open air bar/restaurant (does not detract from beauty of the beach)
• Great snorkeling in the bay
• A short walk (along beach) to another family restaurant that serves great rotis

Has Unjustly Received Bad Press!

We have just returned home after visiting Tobago for three weeks. We had a wonderful holiday – we have visited and sailed around the West Indies over the last ten years but found Tobago the best of all the Islands. Warm, hospitable people, stunning scenery, incredible beaches with clear water for diving and snorkelling. We decided to travel around the island staying in various locations. I used your site to find out where to stay. One of the places we visited was beautiful Castara – a real gem!
We booked Alibabas' Sea Breeze apartments for five nights and needed somewhere else for the preceeding four nights. I was nearly put off Angel apartments by a mans extremely negative report until I realised all he was complaining about was the essence of Castara and Tobago itself, the sounds of cockerels, dogs and steel pans (if you are lucky) playing locally. We were delighted with Angel Apartments, they were spotlessly clean with comfortable furniture, extremely spacious and a large balcony. Seabreeze was also wonderful for its stunning location over the sea but it has such good press I do not need to say more about it. Angel though, I feel has been unjustly treated. Sites such as this one, with one strange mans very odd and unjust report, can influence the decisions of future holiday makers and make or break a hotel trying to succeed in a competitive market. I have just read a report condemming Angel because a relative of the owners wrote on your site positive things about it. Wrong in your books but I can understand the frustration of having only negatives printed about it. Castara is obviously under some change – looking at postcards from just a few years ago it is now more developed but now providing perhaps a few more food shops and restaurants. Angel apartments is not the only place in Castara to have grown and it does provide well needed accommodation in a superb location.
