just wanted to thank everyone and tell yall i found a spot at sandcastles with adam. the place was much more my budget and style- hope i made a good choice!!!
heading to maho bay tomarrow and castara on the 25th!!!!! i can't wait!!!!

We have just come back from staying for 14 days at Sandcastls in Castara I read a review from Joanne, which made me a bit aprehensive. But my husband and I went with an open mind. Adam and Ria are a delightful couple who own Sandcastles. They were so helpful in every way to were to visit, to restaurants, changing money, to cooking our meals and shopping I cannot praise them enough. The view from Sandcastles is out of this world. It must also be a bird watchers paradise. The first thing I asked Adam, what were the local people like. He said just say good morning to everybody and you would get an answer from the majority. We did and we met some lovely characters. We saw no satarving dogs. We visited nearly all the beaches in Tobago, but for us you cannot beat Castara, for a pretty village lovely beach and safe swimming.

We'd like to add an appreciative review of Sandcastles, standing on the hillside to the west of Castara. It was a lucky choice in a last-minute decision to take an 8-day "let's relax before the next job" break in Trinidad and Tobago in turn. And our first time on either island.
On our 4 day visit to Tobago we wanted somewhere on the north coast and we were searching internet during Carnival week, so not many people replied to our e-mails. Adam Hanlon did, even if through the haze of a post-carnival hangover. The guesthouse is run by Adam and his wife Ria, and we found it is only the first phase in an ambitious plan that may see first a restaurant terrace and then other guest villas further up the steep hillside. Maybe they will even reveal the Spanish fort that was once at the top of the hill.
There are several good places to eat in Castara village, but we had a special treat on two evenings with Ria cooking Caribbean for us as we sat on the balcony, stars and moon above, and the distant wash of the sea. It's a great place for a restful week – the village keeps a lot of its fishing village charm, the two beaches are unspoiled and shaded by trees along the edge. The ocean rollers give you a chance for some invigorating exercise while cooling down, and there are some interesting rocks for snorkelling.
