Kia's Across From The Beach - Reader Reports & Opinion

Guest Report - Kia's Across From The Beach

I stayed at Kia's Across from the Beach from the 12 June to the 26 June. Karen the owner is just the nicest lady.

The location of Kia's was just perfect, you had easy access to banks, bars, the beach and it was just a stone's throw from the airport. The room was bright, airy and fully air-conditioned with a lovely balcony overlooking the most beautiful garden which was full of fruit trees and beautiful flowers – you had your own wildlife sanctuary on your doorstep.

If you didn't feel like going to the beach, you had sun loungers where you can just lay back and enjoy the sun, read or just watch the procession of beautiful birds who regularly visit the garden to feed. Next time I stay at Kia's I am definitely going to bring my bird book along with me. I will most definitely be staying at Kia's again.

Thanks Karen.

This place is fantastic! Beautiful garden and great location. Also Karen is a gem. We also stayed at the former Hilton (VCL?) and given the choice I would stay at Kia's any day. Karen is a great host too!

My husband, daughter and I stayed at Kia's in May 2008.

It is a very friendly, welcoming place to stay.

Kia (the owners little girl) is a delight.

We have stayed many times over the years on Tobago at various places and have usually found the accomodation to be very good, (apart from one place, which I will not mention)

We would stay at Kia's again in the future and would recommend it to friends and family if they enquired about a place to stay.

The accomodation was very clean, presentable, economical place to stay, plus it's only a small place so therefore if you are like us and don't like hoards of people all over the place, this is the place for you.

It is in a very good location for night life, beaches, airport etc, all of these just a short walk away.

Our stay at Kia's Across From The Beach couldn't have been more pleasant. Kia's is just across from a delightful local beach, and Pidgeon Point, perhaps the most well known and beautiful beach on the island, is just a five-minute walk away. Karen, the friendly owner and manager of the guesthouse (named after her little daughter Kia), was a perfect host in many ways. First of all, she responded immediately after we sent an email inquiring whether rooms were available (some other places we contacted didn't get back to us, if at all, until days later). She then arranged to have a taxi pick us up from Crown Point airport (which is not too far away, although you wouldn't know it). Prices were very reasonable, and we took a studio ($60)instead of a room ($40). Breakfast is extra ($6 per person) but freshly made (scrambled eggs, fruit, juice, etc.). Karen has a help who comes every day and sometimes prepares local food for breakfast (we had bake and salt fish). The rooms are clean, and have both a fan and an airconditioner. Finally, Karen was also very helpful in all respects, suggesting which of the many nearby restaurants to visit, giving advice where best to catch a taxi to Scarborough, where to rent a car, what to see, etc. Overall, we felt very much at home at Kia's, and are definitely looking forward to staying there again when we return to Tobago.

If ever you wanted a bit of everything as far as a place to stay in Tobago is concerned, then Kia's Across From The Beach is THE place!

Let me give you some examples why...

-The Rooms: comfortable with all the amenities of any standard hotel room, surrounded by a well kept lawn with fruit trees and flower garden. (We even got a bit of seasoning for our pot!)

-The Location: Crown Point is always buzzing 24hrs a day and Kia's was just a short walk to the airport, store bay beach facilities (#1 in Tobago), a bank, fine restaurants, mini marts, a mini mall, taxi and car rental services...

-The Service: most important! the new name for 5 star customer care is Karen Buckmire. Nothing was a problem for this lady as she continuously put our satisfaction at the top of her priority list!

Sorry, but I don't intend to stay anywhere else whenever I'm in Tobago!
