Le Grand Courlan Spa Resort - Reader Reports & Opinion

Going To Lgc End Of October.......

Trev C.

Hello there,

Found this site last week after booking 14 nights at the Grand Courlan.

My initial thoughts when i started searching around the many holiday review sites was that i may have made a bad move, but when i found this incredibly informative site, my mind was put at rest.

I always travel with an open mind after a holiday many years ago in the Canaries. We arrived late and the hotel staff pointed us in the direction of the buffet restaurant. The food that was there at 9:30pm was very well presented for that time of the evening and was just what we needed.

20 or so feet away from us was a family from Ireland who did nothing but complain about the food and service. They were expecting full blown waiter service in a buffet rest!(?). The following morning they were spotted in the bar, giving the rep an earfull and stating that they would be complaining to the holiday company as soon as they got back home.

We had two fabulous weeks at that particular hotel and could not find a fault anywhere.

What i think i'm trying to get at is, there will always be people that will not be satisfied wherever they go, no matter how nice the Hotel is!

I for one so far have been very impressed with the service i have received so far since booking online with Virgin. Admitedly, its a long way off till my 'better half' and I travel there, but we are already looking forward to visiting the caribbean for the 1st time and will make sure that we return back here with our views and comments on our stay.

Sorry for the long 1st post.....

Info On Le Grand Courlan   12 Jun 2003

Nigel Sprack from England

I am due to spend a 2 week stay at LGC from 19th July with my wife for hopefully a completely luxurious and relaxing break.

As much as this site has been very useful I still remain confused and somewhat sceptical as to the quality of the resort.

If anyone has travelled in the last month could they please give me an honest review of the resort and hopefully alleviate my concerns.

Just Back From Tobago Lgc   10 Jun 2003

We had a wonderful time. It is a beautiful island and very underdeveloped which is lovley. The Grand Courlan was delightful, great rooms, gorgeous beach, fabulous sea and very kind, smiling and helpful staff. Leeroy the beach chair man was an absolute hoot! The banana coladas were just yummy!

Eating on Leondros Island was great and we managed to get a table there nearly every night.

The best thing about the whole trip was watching a leatherback turtle lay her eggs on the beach and then slowly make her way, sighing with relief back to the sea. I will never forget this.

Thank you again for such a good web site. The information here helped so much in getting the best from Tobago.

We have just returned from a wonderful ten day break at the above resort, and i would like to share some of the lovely memories we have returned home with.

The resort completely exceeded our expectations as we had gone with a complete open mind having read several letters written by other guests on various websites.

We cannot thank the staff enough for their wonderful hospitality during our stay we have particular fond memories of a few real characters, alister and laverne from the pool side bar, Thomas the maitre'd, arthur a wonderfully sincerely friendly restaurant manager who has produced a strong team of staff particularly the girls in the carribean restaurant who were just delightful. So a big thank you to them for ensuring our visit was a special one.

Both restaurants and all meals were superb, I hasten to add a few calories have been put on !!

Our beach view room was large, clean and a lovely surprise with friut and champagne awaiting our arrival.

We cannot enthuse enough as what a great holiday we have had there and are already planning a return visit !!
