Guest Report - Top O' Tobago Villa

Lovely stay and beautiful garden an house. We were very well taken care of by the manager Hugh and all staff!
Ask for the way to the small lovely beach just south of the main beach.
Tobago was nice even during the rain season, but the water was a bit unclear just after the rain.
The Atlantic coast was not at all as nice as the west coast where we stayed at Top of Tobago.

We Had A Wonderful Time At Top O Tobago
Suzanne Koelman from Netherlands visited in September 2005 and awarded
We stayed at Top o Tobago for a week in September and had an excellent time. Everything was perfect: our cabana with fresh flowers everyday and a terrace with our own hammocks; the pool on top of the hill with even more hammocks and comfortable seats; our host Hugh and his dog Champ who made us feel really welcome and gave us lots of useful tips about Tobago; we really didn't feel like much siteseeing as everything we hoped to find in Tobago, we found at Top o Tobago! We highly recommend it and hope to go back one day.

Home Away From Home - But Better!!
Caitriona Gavin from Ireland visited in July 2005 and awarded
I am actually quite reluctant to do this review because it will mean that more people will find out what a wonderful place this is and I would selfishly prefer it to be just our family's little secret!!
Our party consisted of 2 adults and 3 children, 8,7 and 5. We had been to Trinidad to visit with friends numerous times but this was our first stay in Tobago and boy did we hit the jackpot!. Top o' Tobago was recommended to us by our Trinidadian friends but I, for one, am always sceptical of other people's taste and standards. But suffice it to say on arriving to the villa I was contrite.
Hugh Baker met us at the airport and along with Champ (his ever faithful cannine companion) directed us back to Top O' Tobago. On arriving we were impressed with the property – it's layout and high quality finish. Most importantly however is its beautiful location on the side of the hill overlooking the sea. The grounds are landscaped and excellently cared for and the prperty provides you with a real sense of being a home rather than a rental. Our children were straight into the full sized kidney shaped pool and my husband and I took advantage of the numerous loungers around the pool to rest our travel weary legs.
Any worries we had about the temperature affecting our 3 youngsters and their ability to sleep was negated by the cool breeze which sweeps through the house constantly due to its unusual hextagonal shape. Hugh really made things easy for us and was always there when needed – but totally non intrusive at the same time.
Our days passed between lazing around the pool and eating Esther's amazinging traditional food and sightseeing. Our trip to the highland falls with Hugh and Champ(another secret we would prefer no to share!)and our trips out to the 'nylon pool' and 'no man's land' were definitely the highlights of our holiday. But only made better by the fact that each evening we were returning 'home' to 'Top O' Tobago'.
Because our 5 year old took to demanding to go snorkelling at a ferocious rate, we would regularly walk down the hill path from the house and within 10 minutes be on the the beautiful beach at 'Arnos Vale'. Bacause of having to adjust to the time difference we were sometimes up at 6.30 and on the beach where we had it to ourselves although – mind you – we never met more than a handful of people at it at any one time.
On days when the weather turned, the children were happy to rest indoors and be entertained by the awsome video library and my husband and I took full advantage of the wide selection of books available to take time out from the sun.
The island is beautiful: the beaches, particularly Pigeon Point; the food – particularly Esther's; the snorkelling, particularly on a calm day at Arnos Vale; the swimming, particularly at the 'Nylon Pool; the trips, articularly to the Highland Waterfall with Hugh; and the accommodation – particularly Top O' Tobago.
There is no doubt that we will be returning to Top O' Tobago very soon. As it is I am finding it difficult to get a holiday venue anywhere in Europe which even suggests will live up to the holiday we had in Tobago. I remember on the final day of our 3 week holiday, at the line taking in clothes, looking over the beautiful valley wishing it was only our first day – now for me thats a good indication.
If you do decide to go to Tobago and stay in 'Top O' Tobago' please don't tell anyone else about it!!!

Top O' Tobago Report 02 Apr 2005
John And Elizabeth H from Alberta
My wife Elizabeth and I wish to express our deep appreciation to you for the incredibly detailed and accurate information you provide through "My Tobago".
We had the pleasure of meeting Hugh Baker and members of his family for an all too short visit in January 2005 to Top O' Tobago. All our expectations – derived from your web site and Hugh's Top O' Tobago site – were met and exceeded. The environment at the villa and Hugh's hospitality and attention to detail were the very best we have ever experienced.
Although Elizabeth was born and raised in Trinidad, it was my first visit and memories of the minutes and hours of soaking in such an incredibly beautiful and serene place are now very precious to this visitor from Canada.....all of this in spite of unusually wet weather while we were there. Elizabeth shares my enthusiasm.
Thank you for providing a wonderful context that fed our anticipation before leaving home, and which I can now truthfully say after our experience, was entirely accurate.
We will return at the earliest possible time to Tobago – we have only scratched the surface.
Regards,
John and Elizabeth

Hi.
Has anyone experience of, or reviews of the Top O' Tobago Villa.
I will be visiting Tobago in September 2003 and am trying to shortlist accommodation.
I have plenty of information on many properties but seem to have come up against a brick wall as far as Top O' Tobago is concerned.
Thanks for any help.
