Arnos Vale Hotel - Reader Reports & Opinion

Guest Report - Arnos Vale Hotel

Morten Nielsen from Denmark visited in March 2006 and awarded  Three out of Five

Excellent place, very secluded, and very beautifull setting

Food could have been better.

Don't bother to look for rental cars from home, the hotel has one, just reserve in due time.

The reef at the beach has seen better times, but is still absolutely ok for some snorkling.

Very Relaxing Holiday

Tom Wood from U.K. visited in January 2006 and awarded  Four out of Five

Arnos Vale is a great place to relax and get away from it all. Wonderful snorkelling and bird watching and an awesome beach.

The restaurant and rooms are not up to the very highest standard, but are perfectly acceptable.

If you want to explore the island then from here you really need to hire a car as it is a little out of the way and taxis on the island are expensive (about the same price as London).

For the price this hotel offers excellent value.

Our Romantic Stay At The Arnos Vale   07 May 2006

Cathy Spooner from York, UK

Hi there

We recently spent a wonderful couple of days staying in the Crows Nest at the Arnos Vale Hotel – the surroundings are spectacular and the staff are are all very friendly.

We were fortunate enough to hold our wedding on the beach beneath two palm trees (a separate report on that wonderful day has been filled in the wedding section) and the staff really did go out of their way to make it a very special day for us.

During our stay we were lucky enough to spot a turtle splashing about in the bay during our morning swim and to see the phosphorescence on the water under the moonlight – two very special sights... what a wonderful beach that is there... we also particularly enjoyed sipping a glass of champagne on the Crow's Nest's balcony whilst watching the sun go down – all in all a very romantic setting for a couple of newly weds...

Thanks to everyone at the Arnos Vale

Cheers

Cathy & Pete

Arnos Vale - On Balance Great!   09 Apr 2006

Dave Wallace from England

Great location, nice helpful people, but the hotel needs to pull its socks up in some areas to warrant the high food prices. The service is good and the staff work really hard to please.

I'd say it's the management therefore and/or their business plan at fault. Some rooms are plain shoddy and others merely a bit tatty due to lack of attention to detail and maintenance.

We changed rooms after complaining and the same 'standard' room was a big improvement, having a modern air-con unit and the items as advertised, (kettle, tea/coffe, mini-fridge). And being higher up we had a great view too.

In our 2 week stay Arnos had by far the best snorkelling, numbers of fish and undamaged coral. Can be tricky at times getting in and out for some people we saw, but there's a sandy entry point which makes it easy.

The RSPB would be shocked at the filthy hummingbird feeders and as a hotel that sells itself on this attraction it could easily do more to develop this area. Getting rid of the 3 cats on site would be a great start.

So, all in all, the setting, (quiet location, beach, gardens and snorkelling) vastly outweigh the hotels's short-comings, fortunately, and so we'd be very happy go back again.

Will Be There Tomorrow   22 Mar 2006

Stuart P from England, Kent

Hi guys,

I'll post a review once we are back, but wanted to see if there have been any recent visitors to the Arnos Vale online at the moment?

We'll be there tomorrow, hopefully for a sunny 9 nights, and hopefully the sea will stay calm enough for us to snorkle off the beach!
