Blue Waters Inn - Reader Reports & Opinion
Fantastic Location But Dreadful Food

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Blue Waters Inn with our two children. The hotel is in a fantastic location and has lots to attract nature lovers – both bird watchers and snorkellers/scuba divers. The rooms are clean, comfortable but basic.
The staff we met ranged from polite to almost unwelcoming and none that we met could be described as helpful. We did our best to be cheerful and were at all times polite but one felt as if one had to walk on eggshells with certain members.
The food is overpriced and verging on the inedible. For example, our 5 year old daughter asked us when she received her fried egg if it was plastic. Polite requests for a runny egg were ignored and the same overcooked food was produced every morning. We only ate in on one evening and then joined the majority of the other guests sampling the fantastic cuisine at Jemmas and Birdwatchers. There is no excuse for Blue Waters to serve such appalling food when others are doing so much better.
This is a hotel with great potential and is in a great location to explore the quiet north of the island – just don't plan to eat there.

Fantastic Location But Dreadful Food

We stayed at Blue Waters as a family of 4 for 4 days. We came with great expectations but left very disappointed. The location is superb and the accommodation absolutely fine. The bungalows looked luxurious. The restaurant however is desperate. Food is significantly over-priced and the quality the poorest we have experienced on Tobago. Even breakfast, the best of the offerings, was poor.
Most of our fellow guests did what we did – which was to endure one meal and then, if they could, escape to Speyside for future evening meals. Fortunately for the hotel for those guests without a car the walk to Speyside at night is not great.

Guest Report - Blue Waters Inn

We had a fantastic time. Batteaux Bay is breath taking. We spent many hours literally sitting staring at the bay, rejuvenating ourselves. The staff was very friendly, the accomodations clean and well kept. The food was also very good. However, there was little fare for lacto-vegatarians and the sea is too deep for the enjoyment of small children. There is also very little to keep small children entertained. A wonderful getaway for adults though. I dare say that even teenagers may find the spot a wee bit boring.
Again, would highly recommend for adults in desperate search of some R and R. Would definitely return for this purpose.

Fantastic Location - Terrible Restaurant.

This is a great place to stay! If you do not mind the 15 minute walk to Speyside, when it is time for dinner..
The restaurant is no good at the moment. Breakfast is OK (especially the omelets) but dinner is simply terrible.
Having read Steve's review we were warned about the quality of the restaurant; so we tried it once and were deeply disappointed.
For the rest of our stay we had "bar food" or went down to Speyside for dinner.
In every other aspect this is truely a wonderful place!
(This was my 7th stay and I'll be back!)

Lovely Idealic!!

We stayed for 2 nights and were more then impressed with the accmodation. This is not my first trip to Tobago so perhaps my standards were more realistic then some others. We found the bar food was very good and of better prices then some other local places. The restaurant was not busy but that is understandable as we were out of season. There was a good choice of breakfasts as well. The staff were friendly and helpful. My partner tried the scuba diving and viewed a vast selection of fish. Ifound the snorkling disappointing on the reef as there did not seem to be many fish there. All scared off by tourists i expect!
Blue Waters is very quite in the evenings so don't go there looking for a party but,it is ideal for a get away from it all break.
