Here We Felt At Home

After many wonderful years in Greenland and some great holidays in Thailand our expectations were high. But we were not disappointed.
With Tobago and Beach House we hit the bull's-eye. Castara is just a place for us. We found Beach House on internet,and we stayed 9 days in Coconut Height. We felt at home from the first day, and in short: We would love to go back.
(The only thing I had to get used to was the noise in nighttime from the breakers).
Wonderful nature, perfect climate, nice people and relaxing days – try Tobago and Beach House.
Guest Report - Beach House

I so enjoyed swimming at sunset, eating breakfast with the birds, exploring, and chatting with Carole and Graham. I feel so lucky to have found the Beach House in Castara.
It was lovely, simple, perfect, and fun. It was also very personal, just right for us staying there.
As others have noted, Jemma's Treehouse was delicious, and so were the recipies from the "Naparima Girls High School Cookbook" that you can pick up there. The fruit and veggie stand in Castara was quite good, and I was pretty grateful to make friends with someone waiting for the fishermen to come in, who helped us get some really good fish to cook.
Living more simply was completely needed...swimming, snorkeling, chatting, eating, reading, hiking and drinking beer in breadfruit grove...it is everything you need and nothing you don't.
The weather was super hot, but swimming helped! The mosquito coils were a great idea, too.
I do hope we will be back. Cheers to you, Carole and Graham!
Fantastic Holiday

We were really pleased to spend two weeks in coconuts apartment. We felt as at home but in a fantastic place, very quiet and with an amazing view, oveall at the sunset. The sea also is clean and nice. So many animals around and the birds use to come to have food on our balcony. The only problem was the moskitos, but they prefer my husband!

A Wonderful Break!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Beach House. All of the local people made sure we felt very welcome and there was always a friendly face dropping by to see if we needed anything. The accommodation was perfect – clean and the most amazing views. A real luxury having such a stunning beach on the doorstep! We loved just sitting on the porch and watching the pelicans dive for fish! The only downside were the mosquitos – but nothing that some Deet won't fix! We loved the rural location – especially the dogs!
Beach House, Heavenly Bay, Castara

We stayed in Coconut Heights, the one-bedroomed apartment at the Beach House, for 8 nights at the end of April. Sadly, there was a previous booking which meant we moved on to other accommodation but we would have happily stayed here for the full 2 weeks of our holiday (and longer given half a chance!).
We had planned to hire a car and see as much as possible but quite frankly we spent most of our days on the verandah looking out over the blue Caribbean sea watching the bananaquits, tanagers, motmots and pelicans. We even saw dolphins. We didn't feel the need to go anywhere, especially after we'd bought a bottle of rum for around £7.50 ...
The apartment is very clean and has a well-equipped kitchen, a dining table to seat 6 easily, good shower and comfortable bed with mosquito net. Carline changed the bed linen and towels every 3 days.
We enjoyed a day with Porridge and the 2 other couples staying at the Beach House visiting Argylle Waterfall, Little Tobago and Charlotteville.
Porridge is what you hope a holiday contact will be but you don't usually get. He is charming, friendly and very helpful. He is happy when he knows you are happy and does what he can to make sure you're having a good time.
One word of caution, take insect repellent which specifically works against sandflies. We were also advised to avoid sitting on the beach up by the trees and bushes but stay closer to the water. We had no problem with mosquitoes, in fact we didn't even see one.
We rarely holiday in the same place twice but we're already talking about dates to go back (especially as I'm sitting in winter clothes looking out of the window at the pouring rain). Try keeping us away!
