Birdie's Nest - Reader Reports & Opinion
Peaceful, Relaxing And Seriously Hot

We spent two weeks in May at Birdies Nest. We were in the upstairs apartment which has loads of space, is well equipped and has the most wonderful balcony overlooking the beach. Prince and his Mum, Princess, keep the apartments spotlessly clean and are happy to help whatever you ask. The night we arrived Prince took us to the supermarket at Carnbee to get some essentials and the next day he arranged for someone to collect us so we could go to get a rental car.
The apartments are in the perfect place for a peaceful holiday. If you want to eat out there are restaurents not too far away. The beach stretches for a couple of miles and is ideal for an early morning walk – we sometimes saw turtle tracks where they had been out of the water to lay eggs. The sea is probably better for fairly good swimmers but there is a pool which is almost enclosed by rocks and is ideal for lazing around in.

Truly Wonderful

Our stay at Birdies Nest was wonderful. Prince picked us up at the airport and stopped at the grocery. We stayed in apartment #1 which was great. The view from the upstairs is spectacular!! It was very comfortable with everything we needed.
Prince took us on an all day island tour. We visited many beaches, took a boat to Little Tobago where we saw many sea birds nesting, snorkeled, visited the incredible Argyle Falls and stopped for some great local cuisine. Prince was a great tour guide and I would really recommend this tour.
The beach was by far the prettiest I have ever seen. There is a small reef to snorkle right out your door. And a much larger incredible reef just a few hundred feet down the beach which I snorkeled with a resident of Tobago. We even saw four turtles on the beach one night!!
Prince is a perfect host. He checked on us many times to see if we needed anything.
This was one of the best vacations I have had and I was sad when it was time to leave. Thank your Prince for your hospitality and kindness.

Had A Great Time

Upon arrival Prince picked my husband and I up at the airport and took us to the grocery store before we arrived at the apartment. Upon arrival at the apartment we found a clean beautiful site to enjoy our stay for 5 days. We stayed in apartment #1 which had a great view of an unspoiled beach. The site was perfect for a relaxing time. On day two of our stay Prince took us on an all day island tour which included a glass bottom boat ride and snorking at Angel Reef. We have never snorkled before and what a great experiance it was, after the snorkeling we had lunch and then Prince took us to the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. We then hiked up to the top or Argyle Falls where we stook under the falls for a natural massage. The day ended with us back at the apartment where I cooked dinner and enjoyed the sunset. Our stay was so great we will be coming back next year and bringing the rest of the family. Thanks Prince for everything.

Wonderful Guest House

Birdie's Nest was spectacular! Our stay began with Prince picking us up at the airport. He was a wonderful host with the best personality. Prince took us to the grocery upon our arrival. I stayed at Birdie's Nest with my mom on the top floor. Prince made us feel completely at home and safe. The apartment was immaculate with an amazing view of the ocean. The new deck on the back is the perfect place to watch the beautiful sunsets.
The water is Crystal clear and even has a pool of water beyond some breaker rocks that is safe for kids to swim in during high tide. Birdie's Nest is a short walk from Turtle Beach. We went on a walk down the beach one night from 10-11pm and saw 4 turtles come up to lay their eggs. One was directly outside Birdie's Nest!
Prince offers a tour of the island that is not to be missed. He took us all around the island to see the many beaches, on a boat ride to Little Tobago and snorkeling. We even stopped for lunch and Prince helped us get a taste of the local cuisine. Prince is a great tour guide.
If you're going to Tobago, don't miss Birdie's Nest! Thanks Prince for a wonderful vacation.

A Very Pleasant Stay

I stayed with my wife and three children in the upstairs apartment at Birdie's nest.
Prince came and collected us free of charge from where we were staying before (Castara) which was very helpful. Once we had settled in he also took me to the supermarket and during our week at Birdie's also took us around on a couple of other occasions.
The apartment was clean, spacious and well equipped. The a/c in the two bedrooms was lovely and cool and kept the mosquitos away – but these were not really an issue at Black Rock (unlike Castara!). The balconies (especially the greenheart one) are lovely for taking the breeze and views during the cooler times of day.
The fantastic location means that you walk straight out and onto the beach, which we had to ourselves most of the time. Just in front of the house a flat ridge of reef a few metres out in the sea forms a lovely shallow pool right on the shore. This is ideal for the kids – fantastic as a place to try out snorkelling, as there are many fish in there (even a baby octopus!). We also snorkelled immediately behind the this reef (2 – 4m deep), where we were treated to a huge array of good sized fish which kept us interested for days. The beach as a whole shelves quite steeply, and there are rocks in places, so care should be taken if the waves get up.
We saw turtles laying on 3 of the 7 evenings we were there – one huge one right in front of Birdie's at around 11pm. This was a really special experience for all the family.
Some nice – reasonably priced – handicraft / drums/ souvenirs (and essential groceries!) can be bought from a small shop reached by walking along the beach for 75m towards the black rock itself, then going up the steps by the fort. The shop is visible up the road, 50m on the left. Recommended.
All in all, Birdie's is a great place to stay and good value too. Another bonus is that it is one of the few locally owned guesthouses we came across, so the money you pay does not go straight out of the country to Germany or the UK etc. Also this means that you have a bit more of a "local experience" by staying there.
Thank for everything, Prince – hope to see you again one day!
