A Great Place To Stay
David Folkes from U.K. visited in February 2006 and awarded
I am happy to endorse all the recommendations made by the other guests.Shirley is the perfect hostess and my only regret is that I did not stay there on my other visits to the island.
I can only descibe it as " home from
home"
I intend to return next year assuming there will be any vacancies !!

World Class Hostess
Michael & Yvonne Bauche from Canada visited in February 2006 and awarded
We have traveled all over the world and Shirley by far has been the most accommodating host we have ever had.
Even though we only stayed with Shirley for a few days in the middle of our Tobago trip, she volunteered to come and meet us on our first day and drove us out to one of her favourite beach bars at Mount Irvine. She also included some more points of interest in her tour.
She was of great help in planning our trip, going out of her way to check out available accommodations in different areas for us(her accommodation was not available for all of our stay).
Shirley goes out of her way to get you settled in, point you in the right direction so you can enjoy your stay in Tobago.
The views are great, the pool is cool and the rum punch is smokin'.
If you need a comfortable home away from home, either self catering or B&B, Hummingbird Heights is definitely recommended.

Excellent Value For Money, Great Views And Host

This was our 4th visit to HH. We got married there in January 2005 and took 30 guests from the UK to stay, our reception was at HH. We cannot recommend HH enough due to the excellent value for money, great location and views from both apartments. The garden is beautiful and the picutures on this forum do not do it justice. There is lush vegetation and plenty of Hummingbirds to see. You are living with the locals and the wildlife which is good to feel and see. Even the the climb upstairs to the apartment is worth it for the views over the Atlantic. Shirley is a fantastic hostess with plenty of local knowledge and is so helpful, a great asset when you are new to Tobago with little time to waste. HH is a great place to be based and close to many facilities and shops. Using a jeep is a must and Shilrey has two to rent at very low cost, we got out and about and visited most of the island including Charlotsville and the new Caribbean cost road. Such a great holiday and a wonderful place to relax and recharge the batteries! Thank you Shirley and your staff for a wonderful holiday.

Humming Bird Heights And Shirley
Steven Longmire from U.K. visited in January 2006 and awarded
Shirley's welcome smile and 20 minute transfer to Hummimg Bird Heights in the jeep put Debbie and myself instantly at at ease.
Out of the jeep right by a wonderful pool with a fridge to keep your beers cool. 2 flights of steps to the spacious apartment, 2 bedrooms and simply furnished open plan living space. From the balcony you overlook Scarborough and the ocean with spectacular views to Trinidad.
Shirley's welcome rum punch hit the spot with a light chicken meal before we slept after our journey from the UK by Excel airlines.
Awoke next day with the birds and the sun, Shirley took us on a leisurely tour, bars, shops, forts, beaches and viewpoints with lunch at the spectacular Pavilion with an infinity pool that will be in my memory for ever. Shirley took us to Sunday School, a must for all visitors, that evening and introduced to local people and more local customs.
Tobago is beautiful and unspoilt, not a luxury holiday island but we found some fantastic restaurants, the Sea Horse,Cafe Coco and Indigos stand out. Shirley would book the table or give you a lift. Shirley took Debbie shopping, sorted a hire jeep for us and gave us directions and help to find the best of the island as well as welcoming us to lime with the locals.
Debbie and I scuba dived with turtles and sting rays, discovered idyllic almost deserted tropical beaches such as Englishmans Bay. However Shirley's friendship, guidance, help and advice was the icing on the cake which enabled us to make the most of our visit to Tobago.

The Perfect Place To Stay For A Holiday In Tobago
Adam, Yana & Tess from U.K. visited in October 2005 and awarded
We have just returned from a fabulous two week stay with Shirley in Hummingbird Heights.
If you are not the hotel type and prefer to do you own thing to your own time-table, then this is the place for you. The apartment is very comfortable and accurately described in the the MyTobago pages. The pool is as welcoming as previous reviewers have suggested (besides being kept as well as any I have swum in) and all in all it is a lovely spot. Up on the hills behind Scarborough, with their welcome beeze and far from the all-inclusive crowd, it is surrounded by trees & flowers and has lovely views out over the atlantic coast and is in a very good location for exploring the rest of the island.
The apartment is very good value and deserves a very positive review in its own right but that only tells half the story. The other half is the amazing Shirley who looked after us during our stay. An absolute mine of local knowledge with innumerable contacts through-out the island, there is nothing about Tobago worth knowing that she doesn't seem to know.
The best beaches (and we should know – we tried over fifteen during our stay)...brilliant value car rental...food both local and otherwise...drinking establishments from very cheap to not so cheap....interesting visits and fun places to go...
...the list goes on and on...
Shirley is friends with many of the fishing, scuba and walking guides and the mere mention of her name gets a hefty reduction...she even told us of a laundry with a good local beach so we didn't waste any valuable holidaying time waiting for the rinse cycle!
On top of all this she plied us with dangerous fruit punches and regularly checked that we were OK and to see if we needed any help or advice...a veritable Lonely Planet Guide on legs! By the time we left we felt we were leaving a very good new friend.
To sum up, if you want to spend a few days or weeks investigating this beautiful and fun island under your own steam with a lovely base to come back to each day and a charming and invaluable guide at hand as and when required....you've found the right place.
