Guest Report - The Nest

Catherine Batch from U.K. visited in June 2008 and awarded  Five out of Five

Stayed here with a friend for a week in June 2008. Could not have been more impressed. The apartment was fresh and clean, clean, there was a mosquito net over the bed, and towels were available more often than was actually neccessary, which was brilliant. Juliet, the housekeeper, did our washing for us free of charge. There was also a free taxi to and from the airport that dropped us off and picked us up at the doorstep, helpful due to the small hill to the apartment – manageable during the day but not really with suitcases. Plenty of good places to eat nearby, reasonably priced. Not far from the airport (approx 10mins in a taxi). Buccoo was within reasonable walking distance (about 20mins) and Scarborough was a 10 min taxi away. Taxis are cheap and run regularly, just flag down cars as if you are hitch hiking! Many thanks to Antonette, for all the helpful emails and contact numbers before hand and to Mirko and Juliet for their warm welcome and help throughout the holiday.

The Nest - Rainy Season View

Esom Wattley from U.K. visited in July 2007 and awarded  Three out of Five

We stayed at the two bedroom apartment in July 2007 during the rainy season and were impressed with the accommodation, however this didn´t last long as all of my family were severely bitten by mosquitoes and had to acquire additional mosquito repellant medication and equipment. The accommodation only has wooden window shutters for external protection; we found that we had to close the shutters at sundown and take preventive measure utilising all of repellant equipment to safeguard ourselves. We would recommend any future guests to be well prepared and take plenty of strong mosquito repellant.

A Perfect Low Cost Apartment

Camilla McGough from U.K. visited in December 2005 and awarded  Three out of Five

We stayed at The Nest in the 2-bedroomed, 2 bathroomed apartment just before Christmas.

We were really pleased with all aspects of the accommodation, including the helpfulness of 'Mirko', the young Italian guy who runs the apartments. He collected us from the airport and helped us to organise car hire.

The apartment was clean, pretty well equipped (it is self catering) and had fantastic views. It felt like a real haven and we slept brilliantly in the peaceful environment.

The only possible negatives were that one of the toilets needed its flush mechanism fixing (this certainly didn't disrupt our stay as the other was in perfect working order!) and the steep stony track which you have to drive/walk along to access the apartment.

The location is very good, however, car hire is pretty essential if you don't want to rely on taxis to get you to the fantastic beaches nearby, or out to dinner at night.

Overall a fantastic apartment and an absolute steal in terms of cost!

THE NEST. Am planning a visit next week and staying at The Nest in BUCCO. As a woman of 40 travelling alone, is this a good idea. Has anyone stayed there??? all responses will be appreciated :P
