Delta Air LinesAir Canada

It has been sadly announced that Air Canada will discontinue their service between Toronto (YYZ) and Trinidad (POS) with effect from 31 August 2008.

American Airlines (AA)

American Airlines 757American Airlines offer twice-daily non-stop flights to Port of Spain, Trinidad (POS) from Miami (MIA), with inter-city connections from New York (LGA) and Washington (BWI) and other departure points. There are no services directly into Tobago.

Passengers arriving on the second flight of the day will need to overnight at the airport or in Port Of Spain. The AA flight arrives too late to catch the the last airbridge transfer to Tobago.

The service utilises a Boeing 767 in three class configuration. American Airlines also offer daily direct flights between Port of Spain and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Lauda Air 767Caribbean Airlines/BWIA

Caribbean Airlines (previously BWIA) is the national airline of Trinidad & Tobago.

With effect from December 2010, Caribbean Airlines are offering a new nonstop weekly service from JFK in New York directly to Tobago - making it the only direct flight from North America to Tobago..

The company also runs a number of services from North America to Trinidad. These can be summarised as follows:

  • Miami (MIA) – Daily service to POS.
  • New York (JFK) – Two non-stop flights to POS per day, with an extra flight on Sundays and Mondays.
  • Toronto (YYZ) – Daily non-stop service from Toronto to POS. Twice daily on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
  • Fort Lauderdale (FLL) - daily non-stop flights to Port Of Spain.

All North American flights are aboard Boeing 737-800 aircraft in a three-class configuration.

Continental Airlines

Continental Airlines have merged with United Airlines - see listings below. via Houston.

Delta Air LinesDelta Air Lines

I think Delta should be called On-Off Air Lines. Their announced plans have invariably been s

They now say that they will be running a weekly (Saturday) flight between Atlanta and Tobago from 19 December 2009 through to 24 April 2010. This service will compliment Delta's existing service from New York and Atlanta to Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Don't hold your breath!

Update: 19 March 2010:  Delta have announced they are indefinitely suspending all operations in Trinidad and Tobago. I appreciate the difficult market conditions, but Delta really do seem to be an airline who are unable to get their act together.

Skyservice

Our thanks to the reader who notified about this Canadian charter operator who apparently offers weekly flights to Trinidad from Toronto. They typically fly on Wednesday. However, we understand that the service ceased recently, for some unknown reason, but is expected to re-commence in July 2008.

We have no information on the aircraft type used or class configuration. We understand that the luggage allowance per passenger is just 70lb and may reduce to 50lb at certain times of year.

TravelspanTravelSpan

Re-introduced in February 2005, TravelSpan is a charter service operating a single direct non-stop flight from New York to Trinidad every Saturday.

The service is provided in a Boeing 757.

Continental AirlinesUnited Airlines

Having merged with Continental, United Airlines offer flights to Port of Spain, Trinidad (POS) from Newark (EWR) and Houston (IAH). All flights from Houston are non-stop and also some of the flights from Newark, although others are via Houston.

The service is provided in a Boeing 738 in a two class configuration. The table below shows the non-stop direct schedules for the 2005/2006 winter high season. The number of flights reduces in the summer low season (May-November). There are connecting flights from various other airports.

US Airways

US AirwaysUS Airways became the ninth international air carrier to service Tobago when they announced that they would introduce weekly direct flights between Charlotte in North Carolina and Tobago.

The service, which will utilise an Airbus 19-series carrying 120 passengers, is expected to start in January or February 2006. No other details are available at this time.

Update: As at the beginning of April 2006, the US Air website carried no information about this service. Emails to the airline asking about the service have remained unanswered. It looks increasingly as if plans for this service have been abandoned.

WestJet

WestJetFrom November 2012, Canadian airline WestJet operate a daily direct service between Toronto's Pearson International Airport and POS in Trinidad.

We have no other details of the flight at this time.
