Bijou Des Caraibes - Reader Reports & Opinion

We met a very helpful staff and ownerin. We were disappointed by the rooms and kitchen, which were clean, but very simple and dark at the backside of the house (not closed to the swimmingpool with the good view there - it would be the only reasonable point for staying there). So i would every time recommend a staff like that but not the place itself.

I took a lot of time in searching for the right place to stay in tobago, one of my desire was to fine a very relaxing and quiet place because my husband, mom and 2 sisters were accompanying me on this trip so when i came across Bijou Des Caraibes I knew it would be perfect and i was right, it was a pleasure to stay in comfort and our stay was very satisifying, my choice was not to stay where there was a lot of partying in other resorts and definitely not near the airport was a good choice so i must thank the management of Bijou Des Caraibes for the kind hospitality.

What can we say? We loved staying at this little "gem." We stayed there at the beginning and end of our 1 month trip to Tobago. Firstly, Judy came to pick us up at the airport and took us to the bank and grocery store and showed us around around even though she is seriously the busiest woman i have ever met! She is a superstar.
We stayed for a week in the 2-bedroom apartment and it was clean and comfortable. there is a small kitchen, nice bathroom, living/dining room area, and the master bedroom is very large and comfortable. Our friends stayed in the 2nd bedroom which had 2 single beds, so not ideal for a couple, but would be perfect for a family. There is even a BBQ for dinners of fresh fish from the Mt. Irvine bay fish market.
The pool is magnificent and view of the reef is simply amazing. There is amazing birding to be had on the property too. You would need a vehicle, or arrange rides, for this to work for you because it is a pretty looooong walk to anywhere. The only downside (according to my husband) is the resident rooster who seems to always know when you are about to fall asleep!
We also stayed in one of the smaller 1-bedroom apartments for a few night. it was quite a bit smaller, a double bed and little kitchentte, but has all the basic essentials.
Definately recommend staying here!

Well what a great holiday we had!!
Another well earned 3 week break at Bijou Des Caraibes.
This is our 2nd time staying here and it is always welcoming and always feels like a 2nd home, Judy as always looked after us and was there for our every needs.
We had a great start to a new year and hope to spend many more here.

After 2 nights, we changed hotel. We were very disapointed on arrival. The room was dirty, had no isolating curtain for even a little privacy (the rooms are on ground floor with a path running in front of the windows and the doors), the air con was terrible (old model, very noisy)and resulted with 2 sleepless nighs with the choise between noise and heat. The swimming pool was all but tempting, the water was greenish, and nothing around to want to relax on. The location was not handy, far from any night life. And we were asked to pay our week reservation even when leaving after 2 nights. We did not want to argue so we paid and left, very discusted. We found a nice little hotel near the airport, cheap, clean and well situated. So be careful of names, jewels are sometimes fake...
