We stayed in Cinnamon apartment from Castara Cottage for 10 days. We had a wonderful time! The cottage is just near the beach. While eating breakfast at the patio, the beautiful colored birds eat fruit from the fence, hummingbirds fly just along your head! Inside the cottage you'll find everything you need, a large fridge with a freezer, towels (and even beach towels) en bedlinnen changed every other day!
Everyone in the little village is very friendly, the beach is beautiful and the seawater just the right temperature.
The kids just loved to play on the beach and in the water from morning till evening.

We had a wonderful two weeks at Castara Cottage. The appartment was simple but comfortable with everything you needed, including a hot water shower, which many other local appartments lacked. We were fortunate enough to be there at the same time as the owners who were charming and very helpful. They also had useful information available in the appartment on good rain forest tour guides, boat trips etc for when they were not there to help! A two minute saunter down the hill brought you to 'Heavenly Bay' and the name says it all! Excellent swimming, snorkelling and a beach side bar for drinks and tasty meals. At the end of our two weeks we were so relaxed we were practically horizontal and can't wait to return.

We loved Castara Cottage - the wooden house was beautiful with the most amazing large veranda to chill out on -with dinning table and hammocks and comfy chairs we spent most of our time relaxing there! The cottage is in the heart of Castara and the locals always say Hi as they're walking past - the owner has a great reputation in the village and we had a wonderful stay.
Any Info On Castara Cottage?
We are planning a two week stay here in early Jan. It looks and sounds nice on the web site. Does anyone have 1st hand information about this cottage? I think it used to be called Mango house. This will be our first visit to Tobago, and we want mainly to hike, birdwatch, and snorkle. Thanks, Linda
Earlier this year my husband, son and I travelled to Tobago to stay in a beautiful, family run apartment called Castara Cottage. This was our second visit to Castara Cottage and we weren’t disappointed. We stayed in the same Cinnamon apartment which felt like home. It was spacious, clean and had all the amenities we needed, with a bonus of an additional outdoor shower. Wildlife is all around you and our son thoroughly enjoyed trying to catch the ghekos and feed the brightly coloured birds that visited us on our porch.
The manager, Brigette, was friendly, approachable and always available during the day if needed. She would also come in a couple of times a week to change the bedding, lay out fresh towels, etc... This of course helped make our stay more pleasant.
Because of its extremely close proximity to 2 beaches our son was never out of the water. The locals are very friendly and engaging with some great local knowledge. There were many activities for us to do. One of our favourites was a fishing trip we went on. We set out from morning, fished, snorkled and took in the amazing sights. The highlight of that trip was eating lunch on a beautiful beach where we got to feed a sting-ray. On another occasion we got to see giant turtles laying their eggs. If, like us, you like nature you will understand how exciting that was for us.
The local cuisine was mouth-watering and very affordable and even though we had the facilities to cook we found ourselves eating out a lot of the time.
Overall we gave this holiday experience 5* for its homely, friendly, non complicated, easy going surroundings and will definitely be booking a return trip.
