We had a wonderful time, 4 persons in Rainforest. I think that the owners, Steven and Sue, as well as Porridge make an extra special place of it. Steven and Sue really are making a good effort to help Castara as a whole.

Absolutely fantastic. The photos on the website portrayed exactly what was on offer at the property: no camera tricks. Upon arrival at the property, I felt at home. The welcome service was sincerely friendly. The property well designed and well maintained. The view exquisite! I'll definitely be back for an even longer stay the next time I want to really pamper myself.

We just returned from a short three night stay in the rainforest apartment. We were completely thrilled with the whole experience, starting with the beautiful design and ambience of the house, to the breath-taking gardens and views of Castara Bay and the nice beach, finishing with the wonderful people and shops in the village. The hammock was a great touch and there was much competition for it's use! The beds were clean and comfortable and every morning was like waking up in the garden of Eden as the birds and animals came alive all around us. One of our favourite things was to watch the sunrise on the hills and enjoy the birds flitting literally by our veranda. The property manager was top notch, bringing us a loaf of fresh bread the first morning as a gift, giving us all the advice we needed for what to do and where to eat, and treating us personally and with respect. We'll be returning there the next opportunity we get.

My boyfriend and I were recommended Castara Retreats by friends who stayed there last year and who raved about this beautiful place set on the side of the hill above the beach in Castara. This trip was quite a big deal for us as we had only previously done budget holidays to India and Laos and Cambodia and hadn't gone to the Caribbean before.
It didn’t take us long to discover why our friends were so positive. When we were met by porridge at the airport with a big smile; he made us feel immediately relaxed and at home. He delivered us into Rainforest just before the sun set and our breath was taken away by the lovely views of the bay and the village on the hillside.
First thing in the morning we walked down to the beach for a swim across the bay and a snorkel on the coral reef at the far end of the beach. The water was a bit murky because of the rain before we arrived but the sun shone through and it lit up all the corals and small tropical fish and we immediately knew that one week here wasn’t going to be enough to see everything on offer.
We joined in the boat trip with Sherwin on Sunarise and this was probably the highlight of the week with great snorkelling at Englishman’s Bay and Big Bay and a great BBQ on the beach. Plus and it was nice to hang out with others on holiday and we made some good friends who were staying in the apartment close to us and we ended up having a meal together at Margaruite's and went back for a "lime" on our terrace.
Our week passed in a flash and we know we must find a way to save up and go back to do more snorkelling and see our new friends in the village. We’re really happy that we decided to go to Tobago but very sad that it was over so quickly.

This was our first visit to Castara and we were certainly not disapointed. The accommodtion is perfect, beautifully finished and really combines the outside with living inside. The staff our amazing, cant do enough to help you. We were picked up from the airport and hired a car from Porridge. The views are stunning across the bay and i will never forget the birds on the feeder every morning, keeps you amused for hours! The sound of the sea is great to listen to as you fall asleep. We were only here for 4 days (really wish it had been longer), but in the short time we had some lovely conversations with the locals and a few beers in the local bar! It is very homely sort of place. Would certainly recommend it.
