We had a great time there. We booked the basement appartment and when we arrived the 2nd floor appartment was available so they let us have it at the same price. Awesome view from the balcony. We enjoyed our breakfast there every morning. We did day trips and felt that the stuff we left behind was very safe. Duke and his family were very nice and friendly. We would stay there again!

This been our second one-month stay after January 2003 at Duke's
We stayed in the seaview-apartment downstairs.
The apartment have two bed- and two bathrooms, one full equipped
kitchen with a big freezer and a big four-flames stove with oven.
There is also a microwave, toaster & coffee machine.
The kitchen is open to the living room, so you have enough space for a family. The living room is equiped with a big dinning table, two couches and cable-tv.
One bedroom have a integrated bathroom. Both bedrooms have a aircondition.
The whole patino is covered, equipped with a big table, six chairs, two deck-chairs & a gas grill.
At the patino is the right place to relax, to reading a nice book on rainy days, have a barbecue, dinner or party with friends.
There you have a wonderful overlook too the sea & a nice cool seabreeze all the time.
You have a 50-meter walk to the great turtle beach.
In the small town Black Rock there are little shops where you get all basic things, for a great shopping it's a ten minutes drive to the bigger supermarket.
Whenever you need something, you need help or informations, you can ask for everything the owner's, Dorleen & Duke Robinson.
There are warm, perfectly & very helpful host's.
We highly recommended Duke's house for first-timer's and repeater's.
All together a nice place to stay..... you will feel like home !

Duke Robinson's Guest House is first of all great value for money. I stayed there in August 2006 with my Swiss and Latvian friends who were visiting Trinidad and Tobago and we were all pleasantly surprised at the high level of accommodation we got for such a reasonable price. We stayed in one of the ground floor apartments which boasted a separate kitchen, two bedrooms (one air-conditioned, the other equipped with an electric fan), bathroom, toilet, living room with cable tv and a little outdoor porch where we enjoyed the tropical garden and many julie mangoes with which the proprietor supplied us.
Although we didn't swim much in the sea that was just a very short walk away as we were busy visiting other parts of the island, we were amazed at the gorgeous sunsets and the beautiful scenic photos the black rocks on the left side of the beach provided.
In September, my cousin and his wife from Tennessee visited Trinidad and Tobago. So happy was I with Duke Robinson's Guesthouse, I booked early, this time requesting the upstairs apartment overlooking the ocean. The views from this spacious verandah were breathless. In this apartment, there were two air-conditioned bedrooms each with cable tv, a kitchen, two bathrooms, two toilets. Again, a really great apartment.
Another reason I had chosen this guesthouse again was because of its location. Everywhere is easily accessible. It is close enough to the airports, the best restaurants but at the same time, a great place from which to explore the rest of the island.
This time, we decided to explore the beach on which the house is situated and I realised I had missed the pleasures of the little pools that formed on the beach. These little natural pools were big enough and deep enough to immerse one's body and just relax, washing away the stresses of life. They are also ideal as a play area for children.
Let me finally say that the proprietors of the house, Duke and Doreen, are two of the nicest and friendliest people you will ever meet. They were always eager to know how our stay could be made more comfortable.
I bet you can guess where I'm staying the next time I visit this island paradise.

I stayed here in Feb 05 for one week and would recommend this house.
My accommodation was a ground floor apartment overlooking the beach(about 50m away)and consisted of a kitchen area with full 4 burner gas stove, microwave, large fridge freezer and a full range of cook and table ware,a dining/sitting area, with easy chairs and dining table and chairs, one en-suite bedroom, a seperate bathroom/w/c,and a further larger bedroom.Out side was a large balcony with loungers and a dinning area with seating for eight at table. Both Mr and Mrs Robinson were welcoming and helpful,I look forward to staying there again.
Duke's Apartments Is Stunning!
For anyone who is looking for a self contained apartment right on the beach with amazing views, well located and very reasonably priced then Duke Robinson's apartment in Blackrock is the right place for you!
This was my 7th year returning to Tobago and instead of going all inclusive at the Rex Turtle Beach as I have done previously, I decided to try somewhere different! And I'm so glad I did because the apartment was incredible. I was lucky enough to have the upper apartment with the amazing view over turtle beach. Duke and his wife Dorlene were wonderful, making me feel right at home. I spent one week on my own there and they always made sure I was alright and I felt very safe there. I am due to go back to Tobago in Sept and I will amost certainly stay there again!
Having spent many years at the Rex I also went to see how it was doing and it is looking very smart! It is under new management and the general appearance has definately improved. All new sun loungers tables, chairs and umberllas. The watersports shop is also putting on a good show, with windsurfing, kiteboarding, sailing, and skiing lessons provided by experienced instructors. There are also free diving introductions on most days in the swimming pool, and from that you can get a taste of whether it is something you might like to pursue.
