Hidden Cottage - Reader Reports & Opinion

What can we add extra to the previous reviews? Hidden cottage was really hidden after a ride up a steep Hill. The cottage had a Nice veranda all around where we Could sit and watch the many birds ( Among them the mot mot) when we placed some fruit and bread crumbs on the hanging platform at the corner of the veranda. Bats were also present but were not a menace to us. Kyle came after day two and cleaned the pool properly, and fixed a broken post leading to the pool. What can we say needs some attention is the shower in the bedroom #1, the door is a bit loose. We had all amenities necessary for a pleasant stay, and it was only a short walk downhill to the beach. Some nights however the neighbours dogs barking was quite annoying. At the beginning of the road to the Castara beach facility was a cute mini Mart selling veggies and who provided all passersby with a suitable bibletext text to ponder upon. The roti at Vera's under the Almond tree was sumptious and at Maguerites the shrimp email was ummmmmm....

Hidden Cottage is a lovely quiet spot with all mod cons including air conditioning, everything works, the bed is very comfy and there's your own private bird-watching terrace which is dry even when it's raining. We had a lovely time.
It is about 5 minutes from the beach or perhaps 10 from Little Bay which is the nicest to swim from. The snorkelling off the beach was good.
We had a good holiday and would recommend the accommodation.

Our third time at Hidden Cottage so I guess we must like it!!
Selvin has done some improvements and sprucing up and so it all looks rather smart. This property has a great refrigerator which works very efficiently and this is a must in a tropical climate. Some holiday places we have stayed at haven't had a very good one.
As usual, the staff, Rhonette, Edith and Kyle were very hard working and attentive. They do a really proper job and Kyle looked after the pool brilliantly.
Thank you everyone again.

Well what can I say... our stay, although for 3 days was perfect.
The location is a bit more secluded but just across the road such a short walk from the beach and main street. We stayed in the Humming Bird apartment sleeps 2. It was fitted with a flat screen TV, Shower and Air con that works really well and a very comfortable bed. The oven is a gas stove and there is quite a lot of kitchen utensils supplied.
It lovely and quiet with just the sounds of the birds around you. The pool its a small one perfect to cool off in but not big enough to swim lengths in.
Ok so things id have to point out... the road up to the apartment is STEEP to walk but manageable. If you've hired their 4x4 again, it is at a good rate so we got it for two days it will handle it fine, having said that one drive around the island and you'll realise that the hills are not uncommon.
The walls between the two apartments are thin probably due to the connecting door that can be unlocked for larger groups wanting to share the whole lodge. So other than that it was such great value for money.
Selvin was very helpful. I spoke to him while in the uk and when we were there Kyle provided his number had was really welcoming and helpful. He was up early to make arrangements and kept to his word.
We definitely will be back there next year. What it lacks in modern glamour and it makes up in its natural character, tranquility and value for money. A good balance I think.

We were utterly happy and comfortable staying in the Hummingbird apartment and hanging around friendly, laid-back Castara. The little porch is simply blissful, with lots of birds to watch. Very comfy, supportive bed. We were well taken care of by the folks who look after the place.
We only had a few days to spend and did not plan to cook. (A great choice for us. The local food was lovely.) The kitchen might not support ambitious cooks, but was more than sufficient for our needs.
The hill is steep, but that's how nature put the island together. It's one steep hill after another. I was always happy to make my way up, knowing the hammock was waiting for me when I arrived.
A great spot in an ideal location.
