We stayed at Hidden Cottage for two weeks in the hummingbird apartment.Overall we were very satisfied with the apartment[it could do with a larger freezer though],it is in a perfect location for peace and quiet and an excellent location for birdwatching.Kyle,Rhonette and Steve were very friendly, welcoming and helpful and Andrew[Ham] who lives close by became a good friend while we were there so many thanks to them all.The only criticism is the steep track leading up to Hidden Cottage which became quite slippery and dangerous after the heavy rain but I believe this is due to be tarmaced this year.Castara is a very friendly village and definately the best place to stay in Tobago.

We stayed at Hummingbird Cottage for 10 days and had a wonderful time. The apartment was all we needed, if a little on the small side (it's a studio). It's surrounded by lush rain forest and the private deck is a great place to sit and watch the local wildlife, which can be found in abundance.
We felt right at home and Rhonette came round every 4 days to clean and change towels and bed sheets. Selvin (owner of Hidden Cottage) and Steve have been extremely helpful when XL airline went bankrupt and we had to stay another day in Tobago.
Castara is a fantastic village and we made lots of friends there. We enjoyed the local culture immensely and we'll never forget the legendary BBQs at Shirma's, drinking until late and dancing on the street - respect to Ham and his crew!
PS: Try the Puncheon (rum) - it's lethal!

Four of us stayed at the Mot Mot apt this summer and had a wonderful time. The cottage is clean and spacious, with a well-stocked kitchen and a huge porch perfect for watching birds, playing cards, and relaxing. The pool is nice for cooling off in on those hot hot August afternoons. Castara is small and peaceful with a beautiful beach and plenty of friendly people. The folks who look after the house were very helpful in setting up for us whatever activities we wanted to do. They arranged for someone to drive us to Sunday school in Buckoo Bay, to the rainforest, and to take us out fishing one day. (We considered renting a car, but the tiny curvy roads and the left-side-of-the-street driving scared off us Americans.) Everyone was super friendly and we had a lot of fun. There's a newly opened grocery store on the beach in Castara. It's small but had everything we needed for our week-long stay. All-in-all this is a great place for a restful and fun vacation.
