We stayed at Hidden Cottage for 2 fantastic weeks in November. We were in Mot-Mot House for the first week and Hummingbird Apartment for the second week. It was fabulous and the accomodation was everything that we hoped for - and more.

Hidden Cottage was very clean, with plenty of good furnishings and fixtures, I especially appreciated the very comfortable beds and the aircon in the bedrooms. The showers were great with high water pressure. Absolutely everything that we needed was provided - even a (local rate) mobile phone, which came in handy. The lovely Rhonette came in every couple of days and spruced things up beautifully, especially welcome given all the sand we kept dragging in. The Cottage has a jeep for hire, it was really convenient to hire it directly from the owners - we did and really enjoyed seeing other areas of the island.

The house is really well situated. It's up a short hill literally 1-2 mins from the village centre and 3-4 mins from the bay. At the cottage you are right up in the forest canopy and consequently experience the joy of seeing some of the local wildlife up close, really close.

One of the loveliest things was sitting out on the deck/veranda for meals/ drinks/ general chilling (especially in the hammocks!) and enjoying the sounds of the forest and visits from the birds and lizards. Even when it poured with rain for one entire day, sitting comfortably on the veranda was bliss.

I had one of my best ever moments in the early evening after a hot day on the beach, floating around in the pool (supported by childrens floating water tubes), gazing dreamily up at the sky and watching the stars gradually popping out, one by one, into the deepening dark blue sky. Completely magical.

Our holiday in Castara far exceeded our expectations. This house is perfectly located ,very close to the beach, local shops and the beautiful rain forest. The house was excellent accommodation for our party of 3 couples but would also be ideal for families . An outstanding feature of the holiday was the help provided by Steve ,who looks after visitors whilst on the island . Our daughter became quite ill on holiday and we needed medical assistance. Steve helped and our daughter was treated within an hour. .We were also pampered by Rhonette , who looks after the house. Her version of a "light clean" far exceeds mine!

Finally, the real experience was the friendliness of everyone we met .We have rarely felt so welcome anywhere.

If you are looking for a genuine Caribbean experience in a beautiful place we would recommend Castara as a very special place to visit.

We spent 5 nights at Hummingbird apartment, and it was perfect. The apartment is spacious, very clean, and has everything you need.

The wildlife, especially the birds, is fantastic - we had Mot Mots visiting us every morning for their breakfast!

It's a peaceful place to spend your evenings (if you're not drinking rum at Wallace's with the locals!), and is within minutes walking distance of everywhere you could possibly want to be in Castara.

Our only suggestion would be a larger mozzie net so you don't have to keep tucking it in during the night!!

We would highly recommend Hidden Cottage to others, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

My husband, my son and I spent a very relaxed week at the Hummingbird apartment (part of Hidden Cottage). We found the accommodation to be basic yet clean and comfortable and exactly what we wanted. The cottage is tucked away in the village of Castara affording us much privacy yet allowing us comfortable interaction with the locals and literally only a few minutes walk to a very private beach. We found that everyone we met was very friendly and helpful including the guy who zapped up a cocunut tree to retrieve some refreshments for us! Highly recommended for those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.

Myself, my two children, my mother, father, brother and his wife all stayed at Hidden cottage for two weeks in May and had the most idyllic holiday. The house is in a wonderful peaceful location on the edge of the rainforest yet only five minutes from the beach. The accomodation is incredibly spacious, both inside and out with a wrap around balcony and jacuzzi-what more could we need! It is very well appointed with full air conditioning, comfortable beds, hot showers and a very well equipped kitchen. The wildlife was amazing and we were visited every day by a fabulous selection of colourful birds. Inside, the bedrooms were huge and the kitchen/sitting room was large enough to feed and entertain ourselves and many a passing local!

This was my first visit to Tobago and I was completely won over by both the landscape, the beaches and especially with the people who were really friendly and great fun! In my humble opinion Castara seemed the nicest place on the island, with one of the best beaches, a real village feel to it-somewhere I will definitely be returning to. Hidden Cottage is a gem of a house, in a gem of a location.
