Lillibets - Reader Reports & Opinion

We visited Lillibets in May 2009 for three nights. Tom and Liz promptly answered all of my questions prior to booking and were on site to welcome us upon arrival. The apartment is extremely cozy, well-maintained, and well equipped with necessities. The view from the veranda is breathtaking (we stayed on the first floor). Little Bay was not the cleanest of the two bays, but still a great spot to witness the beautiful sunset. Everyone in Castara was polite and friendly, what a fantastic serene village! We will certainly return in 2010.

The view was great. The people were very friendly. Don't advise anyone with a lot of luggage or physically challenged to stay there as climb to room is steep. Quiet, rustic setting but that was what we were looking for. We wish we had more time to spend there (we could only spend 2 nights).

We stayed in Lillibets 7-12 February 2009. Loved the view and the proximity of the sea. The verandah was wonderful. We were on the upper floor. The apartment was comfortable and adequately provided with everything we needed. We were not troubled by noise or any other problem. The steps would be a challenge to anyone who was really unfit.

We were so disappointed with this place, but also castera it self. we were put in a lower floor apartment. it was dark
and dingy and smelled musty. there was a suitcase in the bedroom which had some clothes and other bits and bobs and looked as though it had been there for years. we asked to be moved to the adjoining apartment as people were moving out. this was marginally better. after one night's stay two families moved into the upper floor apartments with kids running up and down the wooden veranda and the parents playing loud music into the early hours. but the worse thing was looking up in our bedroom at the underside of the wooden floor in their bedroom, every noise could be heard! castera beach has great potential and looks good in photo's, but is scruffy, with token plastic chairs and loungers here and there and most broken. we were booked in for six days, but fled after three.

Lillibets was above our expectations and although a bit of a climb up from Heavenly Bay the views offered and the birds feeding from our balcony were fabulous. Everything we needed was provided in the accomomdation - though we preferred the lower room where we first stayed as the bedroom was air-conditioned.We have already booked for next year!
