Rainbow Resort - Reader Reports & Opinion

My wife and me stayed here for a night before returning back to the UK, we paid $400(TT) taxes included, it's a good budget place, clean and well mantained, rooms have air-conditioning, cable TV, big kitchen and balcony and a swimming pool in the garden.
The location is ideal for the vicinity to plenty of eating-out places, a well stocked supermarket up the road and for pigeon-point.
Only negative points: the door locks to the room looked very weak and flimsy to me and the rooms had no safe so I felt a bit vulnerable to break-ins.

Stayed there for 3 nights and never regretted the choice. The location alone gives the rainbow a perfect choice - its a great base for exploring Tobago - but we were actually suprised at the great value we gor for such a reasonable price. The room was lacking nothing, the service up to mark and the cleanliness, both outside and inside was good. There's also a car rental on the property, making the Rainbow Resort probably one of the most convenient places i've stayed in Tobago.
I discovered Tobago in 2001 and completely fell in love with the Island and
it's people. I have been back each year since.
On my first visit we stayed at Rainbow Resort, which is a 10 minutes walk from the airport, past Cocco Reef. next to the Golden Star Bar/Restaurant
An excellent place. The apartments were exceptionally clean, airy, well
equipped, with a daily maid service, who also did laundry if asked. Beautiful swimming pool. The Proprietor (Mr Rattan) couldn't have been more helpful. He also had a number of cars/four wheel drive vehicles for hire, which saved us the bother of hunting round for a good deal. The prices for accommodation I think we paid £35 per person, per day and car hire was very reasonable,
On subsequent visits I stayed in private rented villa's up in the hills off
the main road - above Bethel - very beautiful.
I love Store Bay, a beautiful beach and luke warm sea, felt very safe there. Great to watch the fishermen come in with their catch.
My favourite shrimp dish in the world is served at the restaurant in
Perfect Location, Never Disapoints
We stayed at Rainbow Resort for the second time this year, and have already booked for next year. This time we had one of the larger apartments. There were three bedrooms, an en-suite with a double and a single bed, second room again with double and single bed, both with air-con and a third bedroom with a double bed. Although the third room did not have air-con, there was a large pedestal fan, and a vent with built in fan (like an extractor) that drew the cold air through from bedroom two.
There was a large bathroom with a huge shower. The kitchen and lounge area was spacious, kitchen had a large fridge freezer, oven, microwave, kettle and toaster - all of the basic equipment that we would expect was provided. Sliding patio doors opened to the pool area with a selection of chairs, tables and loungers - where we usually took our meals. The size of the pool for the number of apartments is great, and I don't think we ever shared it with more than one family.
The owners, The Rattans are lovely, nothing is too much trouble, Mr Rattan phoned the office from home to tell my husband which channel the England v TT football match was on and Mrs Rattan bought us fresh fruit from her garden on several occasions.
Added to this the location is perfect for us, 25mins walk to Pigeon Point and $35tt for a taxi back if we are feeling lazy, Colours, Bago's and Jimmy's bars all within 10mins walk, along with restaurants, takeaways and convenience stores. Having said that, do not be put off when you are told that this is the busy end of the island, it is more like a small friendly village than a buzzing metroplolis.
