Surfside Hotel - Reader Reports & Opinion

I'm writing this report as it's fresh in my mind. A group of 6 and myself stayed at Surfside for two nights Sept 24-26th. First of all the location is ideal. Close proximity to ATMs, Store Bay, the grocery, Chef's BBQ (my favorite, can't wait to go back to have that) and Skewers (for all the Muslims visiting the Crown Point area, they have halal meats), just to name a few of the eating places around.
W e stayed in a family apartment (paid $700tt per night for room DV2). The apartment was very well kept. This is the first place I've stayed in Tobago that actually had enough wares in the kitchen to cook, sadly this time I didn't. The bedrooms had clean sheets, clean floors and walls. Be warned! From my experience with the AC, they work darn good. We had the AC on in both rooms and kept the doors open so the entire apartment was really cold. Even though our stay was only two nights, on the second day, Saturday, someone came to mop and take out the trash. This really impressed me as I have never had that before even with paying $700tt for only two persons at the crown point beach hotel.
The pools were clean and there we alot of lounge chairs around for just taking in the Tobago sun. The one draw back for me was that the pool opens at 9am and closes at 9pm. I dont mind the closing time but I think it should open a bit earlier. Their check out is at 11pm so opening the pool at 9am with 6 people staying in one apartment and only one bathroom leaves no pool time the morning before check out. This I think they should look at.
To sum it all up, great customer service, excellent location, great accommodation. I will definitely staying there again. My family has also indicated that they don't want to stay anyway else. I'm planning my next trip for Easter 2011. I wanted to do the booking one time but they weren't doing them so early. Thank you surf side for a wonderful stay.

I stayed at the Surf Side Hotel for Great Race weekend.
With all the negative views i was skeptical.
When i reached there i was shocked.
It was a great place.
We stayed in a two bedroom apartment.
It was the perfect place to relax.
Good size bedrooms and beds
Close to the beach (Store Bay)
My only negatives are that
-the pool does close at 9p.m.
We would have liked to have been in the pool later.
- the air conditioning in could have been a bit colder.
We would definitely go back there to stay.
Great Job Surf Side

Usually I don't listen to critics because I always feel that they exaggerate alot. However my boyfriend and I stayed 2 nights at surfside. IT WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING take my word for it . The kitchen was dirty and disgusting, everything was old .There were two drinking glass and one had a lipstick print on it. The bathroom area was very small and the toilet was joint to the bathroom, you couldn't stretch your legs. The bathroom was also old and dirty looking as well .This place was so scornful that I refused to make anything in the kitchen, the utensils and cooking pan we're dirty and look like they been there for ages. The pictures and the website is a lie. Do Not Go To Surfside if you want a clean place to stay at!!!other than that , the beach is very close by and the price is affordable.

I enjoyed my stay at Surf Side. The receptionist was very accommodating, my stay peaceful and very clean. It was comfortable, in that, i had everything i needed. The maids did a wonderful job of cleaning on a daily basis. The location is the best, close to the grocery, beaches, airport, restaurants. I'll definitely go back again!

I recently stayed at Surfside. After reading all these negative comments, I still decided to try it. The Location is great, it actually took us 5 minutes to walk to Storebay. It is also so easy to travel to and from the port. If you don't have a car, consider staying here. The apartment was clean and well maintained, we even got towels. For the bargain price, I didn't expect that. The pools are small but clean and warm. They really do close the pools at 9pm. Didn't bother me really. The place was just generally nice and comfortable.
Big up to Jody (he was very friendly and helpful to us)
i kinda questioned myself about the Satsangh room on the compound, but never heard anything though.
Keep up the good work Surfside.
