Tobago Ferry

A guide to ferry services between Trinidad and Tobago

A Trinidad-Tobago Ferry

The T&T Port Authority operate a car ferry service between Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, and Tobago's capital, Scarborough.

Passenger crossing utilise a pair of high-powered catamarans ("T&T Spirit" and "T&T Express") with a crossing time of around 2¾ hours. Trucks and heavy cargo are transported via a traditional vessel (M/V "Warrior Spirit") with a 5½ hour journey time.

Although it is an affordable way of crossing between the islands, the journey is generally uncomfortable and has little or no merit from a sightseeing point of view. Unless you wish to transport a vehicle between Trinidad and Tobago, the airbridge service is a far preferable alternative. Having said that, the fast ferries are a viable alternative for day trips from Tobago to Port of Spain and a great way of avoiding the horrendous traffic problems between Port of Spain and the airport at peak times of the day.

The fast ferries sail twice a day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and once a day on all other days.
