Penny Savers Scarborough

Post by Andy K »

Penny Savers Scarborough has finally moved to the corner of Wilson Road and Claude Noel HIghway
(opposite TSTT, former K-Mart building).
This long overdue development should give shoppers in the Scarborough area more convenience and
variety of products as compared to the old island-style store.
There appears to be a parking issue though and cars tend to back up into Wilson Road when turning left
into the side street to gain access to the parking lot, at least on a Friday.

It is an illegal right turn into the road coming off the highway! Going into Almondos hardware, cash and carry as well as the Flavour Pot, Joe's Locks etc you are better off coming from the town end! Otherwise you have to sneak though the TSTT / WASA carpark to go straight across into the road for Pennysavers.................

True. But even coming from town traffic going to the new Penny Savers
backs up into Wilson Road at times. There is just not enough space in the parking lot :(

It just goes to show how many people must have used the market place car park when shopping at the old Penny Savers. Maybe, because there was no obvious connection, the percentage of car borne shoppers was not taken into account. It always seemed like the clientele were mainly pedestrians and anyone with a car went to Carnbee or Canaan.

The obvious solution would be for K Mart to reopen, using the old Penny Savers premises (only joking), thus spreading the parking load !!!
