Hi Guys,
My husband and I are staying at Blue Haven in September. I have been hearing how the hotel restaurant is so expensive and not worth the price. Could anyone recommend a good restaurant for dinner in Scarborough?(not too far, although we have a car).

Hi Jay
There's been a lot of changes at the Blue Haven in the last year. Yes, up till late last year their restaurant was sadly lacking. However, we stayed there for 5 days in March and were higly impressed by the restaurant.
It is true to say, however, that all the hotel restaurants are expensive unless you are on a meal package. This is partly due to the extra taxes the hotels have to charge.
Have a look at our Restaurants listing (menu: Food & Drink/Restaurants) for a full list of restaurants in that part of the island. Basically there is NOTHING in Scarborough - nothing but fast food rubbish - and very bad fast food at that. Having said that, the Salsa Kitchen is just outside the town and is one of our favourites, but you must book in advance as they only open for bookings. There is a restaurant at the Half Moon Blue directly opposite the Blue Haven, but this is expensive and I've not heard any good reports about the catering there.
