Milk from Pennysavers

Post by Carol Townsend »

On arrival we stopped off at Pennysavers in Canaan to get supplies. We bought what was supposedly "fresh"milk, well within the alleged "use by"date, which proudly claimed to be "fresh from Venezuala".Fresh my...elbow! It was cheese!
We stuck to long - life after that. I daresay we should have known better, and there is probably already a warning about it lurking in this site somewhere.

We always arrive on a Thursday, & the homoginized milk was never available. Dear Paul Tallet had recommended a powdered milk called Kerrygold, which is produced on Trinidad. Pennysavers stocks it (not available in Castars, I don't think). It's the best powdered milk I've ever had!! It comes in whole and low fat packages & isn't very expensive. I wish I could get it in the US, as I'd take it along to other Caribbean islands who also don't have homoginized milk.
