calaloo

Post by Andy and Sara »

Hello to you all!
Can anyone help us out? we have found calaloo in one of the local supermarkets here in snowy norfolk, we loved it when we were in castara . The thing is it doesn't taste as good when we cook it!!! :? Is there an ingredient that is added to it to perk it up a bit? we would also love to find out how to prepare the wonderful 'buss up shut' that we had on arrival at castara retreats. (it all seems so long ago!!!)
Hoping to get out there soon, we miss that perfect bit of paradise...

if you can buy the fresh bush you would need some flavour peppers, ocro, coconut milk (can be from the can or as powder) and some kind of salt meat (we like to use pigtails chopped up) to give it the right flavour. gourmets also add some shrimps to it (the normal local here does not afford that really...).
just google calaloo and i am sure you will find many descrobtions how to make it there....

enjoy
