Lunch

Post by Richard »

After the wonderful work done by our travel agent we are now coming back to Tobago in Jan 2004 with our new addition who will be 11 months.

We would like some places to go for lunch that don't mind a Yanni and will have a car rental from Wed to Wed. We eat most things but really want local type food. Somewhere that can boil a bit of fish and veg (no salt or heavy spice) for our youngun would be a real advantage.

Any tips chaps (and chapesses).

ive just returned and my favourite two places on the island for lunch were ANthonys and Josets?? in Parliatuvier -this had excellent fish shrimp or chicken with rice and ground previsions - very local food and plenty of it. At £10 each it was more expensive than Jemmas but of the same quality and definately worth a stop when touring the carribean side of the island.

We did have concerns that Jemmas might be too touristy but were reassured by many tobagans that we really would be missing the most tasty food on the island if we gave it a miss. We arrived at 12-30 early enough to miss the coach parties that began arriving 1-30 onwards and had the most gorgeous lunch of fresh king fish, rice ,and ground provisions. We had a view of the ocean, cool breezes and sat watching a man cutting up another massive kingfish for the crowds later that day - pure bliss and unmissable at only £7.50.

You can also try the Seahorse Inn, which always has catch of the day and also caters for the young sproggs. They are also very willing to assist with any particular requests.

Service was excellent, the view beautiful, and a simple but excellent quality menu, ideal for adults and children.

For adults the wine list is very extensive, if you so desire.

regards
James
