Papillon

Post by Dave Park »

Debby and I have stopped in at Papillon once on each of our visits to the island, once for lunch and once for dinner.

The first time it was about 2 in the afternoon and the place was deserted. We were a bit apprehensive for that reason and also because of the general appearance of the place which borders on seedy from the outside.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the food. It was great. So was the service. These folks don't care if you stay all day.

The second time we went for dinner. The parking lot was jammed. We parked on the grass but when we walked into the restaurant there were only 4 other parties dining. The food was very good and the place is still very casual and relaxed. Two of the other parties were families over from Trinidad apparently on Easter vacation.

On one wall is a huge painted mural I assume is of an Amerindian settlement. Somehow despite the lack of location and outside appearance Papillon is one of our favorite places to eat. :)
