Dillons

Have been using Dillons once or twice a year on previous visits. This time we went there four times. The fish has always been good, but now the vegetables etc.served with the fish is much improved. Ambience is better now, the waiting staff are far more friendly. Also, if you happen to be a smoker there is an area where you can puff away!
Hard to choose which is best between Dillons or Fish Pot, although, Dillons is easier if you are based at Crown Point

Hi Bridget

Welcome aboard! :)

Glad to hear that Dillons are getting there act together again. They were almost a Tobago institution ten years ago, but then seemed to lose interest (and custom). Really good to hear that you enjoy it there. Hope you've voted for them in the RSR polls.

Ditto from us - we had 2 lovely meals at Dillons, bit which happened to be on steel band night when they have an 8/10 pieces band playing in te front 'garden' area'. Fish was meat were excellent, the potato and cassaca gratin served with it was gorgeous and the cocktail and bar list just right. Their Daiquiris were delicious and the Chilean red wine great too.

The hostess acting as barlady was really, really nice and so friendly to us and our young son. Would highly recommend it.

We went to Dillons on Good Friday - excellent and with live Steel band too. Having had a bad experience 5 years ago it is good to see they have got their act together again. Our only niggle is that they have a waitress who seems somewhat unfriendly and lacking enthusiasm - didn't ask us if we wanted a drink when she handed out the menus - that sort of thing. The others serving seemed really with it, though.

Went to Dillons a few weeks ago and enjoyed the food. But I again have to agree with Mr Fox on a waitress we had. It seemed she might have worked in a jail or zoo before because her people skills were non-existant ans she seemed as if she did'nt want to be there.
This was really unfortunate, because the 'front-line' staff can really make or break a place even if the food is great.

We have been only once we are not going back. The food was ok, but almost no service at all and the prices were the same as in France. (But not the quality.) Also it seems to be like the refuge for older, European tourists who are too afraid to eat anywhere else...;) No locals at least that night when we were there.

I have been to Dillon's a few times over the last 15 years. In the earlies, and for quite some time
there were issues with the service, which has certainly improved.
On our last visit the food though appeared to be still mediocre.
We had Fish Ceviche resp. Callaloo Soup as starters, both very tasty but the main course ("surf and turf")
was far behind in quality.
The sirloin steaks were both overcooked, the potatoe & cassava au gratin was bland without any seasoning and the
raw chunks of pineapple and paw paw did not show much fantasy of the chef. Not to mention the unseasoned
mushy piece of (boiled ?) pumpkin. The only tasty part of this dish were the shrimps, grilled on a skewer.
In all, i regret to say, Dillon's will remain a place which i will continue to visit only on rare occasions.

Hi Andy

Thanks for that detailed post. Sadly confirms everything I've heard, although several people have urged me to give them another try, saying things have changed big-time! Doesn't sound like.

Please don't forget to vote for Dillons - and everywhere else you've tried - in our RSR polls.
