Holiday Report 5 - Accommodation

Questions or comments should be posted in the property's own sub-forum, below. Use this sub-forum for general accommodation questions and comment. Please DO NOT post accommodation reports in the forum. Reports should be posted in the property's listing in the Accommodation section of the main site, where you will also be able to include a Satisfaction rating with your report.

Holiday Report 5 - Accommodation

Our first review of the Coco Reef Resort was published on the predecessor to this site in early 2000. When we returned to the hotel, two years later, improvements were such that a full re-write was necessary. At the same time we turned the concept on its head and made the website one about Tobago with reviews of hotels, rather than a hotel review with information about Tobago. As a result, myTobago was born in April 2002.

Encouraging comments in the forum and a rapidly increasing readership have given us the incentive to extend our efforts. We intend to use our current four weeks on Tobago as productively as possible.

No holiday accommodation property will be ideal for everyone. Budget and personal preferences dictate otherwise. As Miranda quoted in her post a few days ago, “one man’s meat may be another man’s poison”. Conscious of this, our goal is to increase our range of recommended accommodation, covering a wider variety of budget and taste.

Forum and private feedback from readers played a major role in helping us to determine the properties we selected for our 2003 reviews. We have chosen seven properties – one guesthouse, two self-catering apartments, two hotels and two villas. Some properties are well known, some unknown. The daily cost varies by a factor of fifty (yes, 50). Hopefully there will be something for everybody.

We have just arrived at our first villa. It has been a fascinating, if tiring, experience and the most important lesson it has taught us cannot be stressed strongly enough – you do not need to exceed your budget to have a wonderful time on Tobago. We can truthfully say that we would be happy to spend our entire vacation at any of the properties visited and will willingly return in the future.

The posts I shall make in this "Holiday Report" series are brief summary of the fully illustrated review articles that will appear in myTobago over coming months. Reports 2, 3 and 4 cover the three properties we stayed at during the first nine days. The next two reports will cover Blue Waters Inn at Speyside and the Blue Haven Hotel at Bacolet.

Hi Steve, As You're over there could you ask around and see what the general opinion is on Birdies Nest at Turtle Beach? There have been a couple of request for info on the forum however there has not yet been any replies. We are going for for Christmas and New Year 2003/4 so it would be great if you could take a peak. If you are unable to find anything we'll let you know when we return, I hope you don't mind the wait. We only recently discovered your site as we were looking for some self catering accomodation and this is where we saw this beach house. Thanks Michelle
