Hi- I've been reading everything on this site and think I have things narrowed down to alibaba's or castara retreats. There will be 4 of us traveling- my husband and 2 sons who are 19 and 23 years old. We are avid bird watchers so definitely want to venture into the rainforest. We also want to be on the water so we can walk down to the beach to snorkel right from our apartment. My husband and younger son love to dive but will also snorkel with me and my other son. We don't really need anything fancy. Just a clean, comfortable well located place. I'd really welcome your opinions on which of these two spots might better suit us. Again, many thanks for your help. Terry

Terry,

My wife and I stayed at Alibaba's two years ago and just confirmed our stay for next March. You can't get much closer to the beach and snorkeling than here; down about 15 steps, across about 100 feet of sand, and about a 50 yard swim to the reef. Steph and Brian live on site and are warm and helpful hosts. Rooms are basic but clean and sitting on the balcony overlooking the water is about as close to paradise as you can get.

As far as I know Castara Retreat is way up the side of the hill from Big Bay (no snorkeling there) and a good distance from Little Bay.

I like to confirm Bills comment for Alibaba's. Have a look on my homepage, nothing can beat this view from the balcony:

I took also a small video of the apartement. The video is from 2005, in the meantime they installed a mosquito net
on the bed:

And no, I'm not related with the owners, just a satisfied customer...... :D

Greetings,
