Any reports from those who stayed at Grafton Beach following the horrow stories of November? Friends who've staye dthere in the past had recommended it so I was surprised to hear of all the problems and hopeful that they would be remedied as we plan to go in February - can anyone comment? Many thanks in advance.

Hi Vicky

Sorry, but the Grafton is closed at the moment. I have no idea when it will open. I raised that very question with them yesterday, but havent had a reply yet. I will certainly be posting an announcement here just as soon as I (or anyone else, please) hear anything.

Right! - I'd better tell my travel agent that as he's just offered me a very good price for the first week in Feb!!!! Might explain why it was such a good deal :-). Thanks for the info and for your efforts to find out more - please let us know if you hear anything further.

We just called Grafton and are pleased to inform you that they reopened yesterday! They expect the first arrivals this afternoon. I know that they have used the opportunity to upgrade the whole facility. I will pay them a visit right now and get back to the forum with first hand impressions shortly.

I'm just back from the Grafton Hotel where the staff is busy preparing for the first arrivals tonight. I walked through the lobby and must admit that I am impressed with the upgrading of the hotel. The refurbishing done is extensive and gives the hotel a fresh and inviting look, they are definitely ready for business.

I am delighted to confirm that I have received official confirmation that the Grafton Beach Hotel re-opened on Thursday 9th January after a US$2.5+ million refurbishment. Various enhancements have been undertaken to the public areas and all rooms were recently upgraded. Lets wish the Grafton every success in 2003.

Sorry, Warren, wasn't the line of text telling you that the message had been recreated large and bold enough?

Funnily enough, I wondered about this a number of times when I transferred the posts from the old forum to the new database - which is why I put the "message recreated" line. Ah well, you can't win them all!
