Our flight with XL

Postby Carol Townsend » Mon Aug 27, 2007 11:03 am

Our outbound flight from Gatwick was a little delayed owing to the plane being parked in the wrong place or something.
We enjoyed the flight due to a large part to the immensely entertaining camp double act of two of the cabin crew:" Ooooh if he had a brain he'd be dangerous!".And "we're going on to Barbados.I'm going straight to the bar and won't be fit to take anyone home tonight."
Then our one hour stop on Grenada turned into two and a half hours because someone who was destined for Tobago decided to get off at Grenada instead and disappeared leaving their luggage on the plane which then had to be offloaded. If there had been a bomb it had had plenty of time to go off!
However, the pilot put his welly down and made up much of the lost time.
The inward flight left on time and landed 45 minutes EARLY. Hooray!
There was a problem with the sound on the entertainment in our row, so we we were given one of those portable systems.
My tray kept getting stuck down and they ran out of the vegetarian meals. Hard luck on the vegetarians!
The food was edible and the hot meal was hot, even if the amount was tiny, but what else would you expect from a budget airline?
All in all we wouldn't be concerned about flying with them again.

XL Flight

Postby Wyn Emanuel » Mon Aug 27, 2007 11:36 am

We were on the same flight - and wished evil things upon the person who caused the Grenada holdup. Overall, XL is a good carrier for the price.
However, we stumped up extra for the seats we wanted - only to find we couldn't have them as they'd randomly been given to someone else. Grrr!

Forgot to mention that our tickets said to contact the local office to re confirm the homeward flights. Spent all day trying, couldn't get an answer, went to office in Crown Point, closed! So in the end we phoned Customer Services in Swansea. No problem!

XL gave someone else the extra leg room seats we'd paid for when coming back last month. Although all booking was by internet, I have now had to write them a letter including boarding passes and a receipt. After 2 weeks I have had a reply telling me that they will 'investigate'. They anticipate their investigations should take six more weeks! Well, it's a big job...
