Vegetarian food

Postby Tracey Harrison » Thu Apr 14, 2005 10:32 am

We are visting Tobago to get married in August this year. Having been to the Grafton 2 years ago, we are very much looking forward to this next stay at Coco Reef.

We are staying on a B & B basis and wondered if anyone could recommend places to eat out where there's a good vegetarian menu? What kind of dishes are on offer?

Also, what are the prices like? I've noticed quite a few mentions that say Coco Reef is overpriced. What is classed as overpriced?

This is a fantastic site and is in danger of losing me my job! I can't keep away!

Tracey,

We just returned from a week in Tobago and had very nice meals at both Kariwak Village and Panache Creole. Both had vegetarian selections. Kariwak has a nice buffet on Saturday night with a jazz combo entertaining. At Panache Creole (Milford Rd & Pigeon Point Road) we had probably our best dinner of the week- nice guy named Wayne runs it and a number of creative selections each night. My daughter had a vegetable medley she liked a lot.

Cost for four of us with drinks and dessert ran about $550 to $700 TT. I'd figure about $100TT per person for a nice sit-down dinner, plus drinks and dessert.

Hi Tracey

I would definately agree with Lars on the Kariwak and Panache: they are both great places with wonderfully fresh food, a varied selection of vegetarian dishes and a good atmosphere. In addition I would also suggest Shore Things Cafe, Lambeau, for lunch - it is a small cafe and craft shop with a sea view balcony and a tasty menu of salads, pizzas and wraps as well as delicious home made cakes. The atmosphere is laid back with good music and two friendly women who own it - its well worth a visit.

Generally eveywhere caters well for vegetarians - and all the food is so fresh you'll have a great time.

Enjoy
Cathy :D
