Postby Mandy » Mon May 16, 2005 9:55 pm

Its nearly here only a week to go now before setting off for Tobago, we fly
next monday with virgin and am beginning to worry about getting to gatwick un-frazzled to get our flight.
Anyone know of a b&b or hotel we could stay at on the sunday night theres 2 adults & 1 child.

Hi Mandy,Just got back from Tobago yesterday,we went to Gatwick the night before we flew and stayed at The Copthorn hotel,Gatwick.Very nice it was too,we had a suite with a four poster bed and two single beds for the children. And we had 15 days parking with transfers all for £128!
It is a lovely hotel and we wouldnt hesitate to stay there again.Hope you have a wonderful holiday,we did and i cant wait to go back in Feb 06.

Hi Mandy

Following on from Andy's suggestion, see our Gatwick Accommodation article in the Tobago/Getting There/Air Travel menu.

I always stay at the Corner House Hotel, http://www.thecornerhouse.co.uk/ . It's a small, family-run hotel. The big hotels annoy me -- they're impersonal, and expensive, and then the bus from the airport only comes every 45 minutes and they have the cheek to charge you for it. The last straw was when at one hotel we set an alarm call and their clock was wrong so it called us two hours early, and we told them in the morning and they didn't seem to care.

In fairness, the economics may depend on whether you need to park a car. A smaller hotel would normally charge for parking, and the big hotels may not, so that would give the smaller hotels less of a price advantage.

Hi Mandy

Check out http://www.holidayextras.co.uk
We use them every year and you can easily compare hotels (facilities, long stay car parking option and more importantly cost etc) Often it is as cheap to stay at one of the hotels with the car parking for 1-2weeks than it is to stay without it, so in effect car parking ends up being very cheap indeed if not free!
Hope you find this site helpful
Enjoy your holiday,
Madeleine
