Sheppy's car rental

We hired a car from Sheppy for five days at the start of May. I arranged the rental via email before we left and we were picked up at our hotel. 5 mins paperwork in Sheppy’s office (just round the corner from the Coco Reef) and we were off in our Suzuki Jimmy. It was perfect – we kept the top down so a bit blowy, but great fun. No problems with breakdowns and the petrol is dirt cheap out there. We extended our hire for another day without any problems ‘Just enjoy your honeymoon, guys’ was Sheppy’s typically laid back response!

Without a doubt I would add a full thumbs up for Sheppy and recommend him, without fear, to anyone wanting to hire a car in Tobago. He is a wonderful bloke and goes out his way to ensure your stay and use of his service is as straightforward as possible.

We have used Sheppy's cars 5 times now and pass on his contact details to people wanting to rent our villa. He is a safe bet and we know we can trust him with our rentals.

I can wholeheartedly agree with both of you. We used him a couple of weeks ago, and he really went out of his way to help us. We didn't know exactly when we would need a car, so we left it until we were there and installed at our hotel. We called Sheppy, and had a car the next day, which he delivered to our hotel. Not only that, we wanted to drive to the north of the island with the car and have it collected there a few days later - again no problem. We even asked him to bring the car back to us a few days after that, so we could have it for the remainder of our holiday and drop it off at the airport, which was, of course, "no problem". Great service and an all round nice guy

do you have an email address for him? should we try to reserve ahead of time or can we pick up a car when we arrive?

Regardless of who you use, I strongly recommend booking in advance. The rental fleets on Tobago are VERY small. Many agencies might only have one specimen of many vehicles, other than the most popular models. If you leave it until you're there, you are going to get what's left - and that is probably the dog of the fleet - the spare car or the one that has just been returned and fixed by some other customer.
