BA or Virgin?

Postby Annabelle Oconnell » Mon Jul 18, 2005 1:06 pm

Dear All,

I flew to Tobago last year with Virgin - the price of the flight was substantially lower than BA. It was packed (end of August), and though it was an ok flight generally I noticed this year that when checking them both for comparison BA was hardly more expensive. Sadly, I can't afford to go this year (Blue Waters Inn, here we come in 2006, yay :D ) - however have any of you flown both, and how do they compare? Is it worth forking out more for BA Economy?

Cheers everyone!

Hi David!
Lucky you! Where are you staying?

What was it that you found was so much better with Virgin?
Thanks again!

Although I have only flown BA to Tobago, I have flown Virgin to other Caribbean islands.
One major consideration may be that Virgin fly only once a week at present, on a Thursday, while BA fly Thursday, Saturday and Monday.
However Virgin fly direct to Tobago, (then on to Grenada). This reduces flight times by about two hours compared to BA, who fly into Antigua and wait there 60 - 90 minutes, even when only picking up a single passenger! They do this in both directions making journey times seem much longer.
My personal preference would be Virgin, but you are limited to multiples of 7 days.

Hi
We flew with BA last year and I dont know if it was just the crew on the aircraft but they were very rude. The seat pitch is the same but virgin felt a bit more roomier and i can't say i liked the food too much with ba. This year we flew with virgin and i will never fly anyone else (except when skint and have to fly excel). The crew were great on the flight, even let me and my daughter to see the pilot (which was promised to her as she helped make the pilots a cup of tea). Sometimes tho it is these small things that count.
Plus the added bonus of flying virgin is that you can join there frequent flyers club online. It's free and you can earn points to use for future trips and upgrades.

My bible website that i rely on for day to day info has reviews on all airlines: http://www.airlinequality.com for any other quieries you might have

Annabelle, basicly, right from the word go Virgin are excellent, booking tickets, check in at G'wick and the flight crew--well to say they are great is an understatement.I have flown to various places with a number of carriers but I will always now go with Virgin if at all possible. As to where I will be staying,I'll be in Castara for eight weeks,a few days in C'ville then 2weeks in Carnbee over Carnival then a week in the Crown Point area. Can't wait!!!!
