WE ARRIVE IN TOBAGO ON THE 23RD fEB, can u advise how much its cost to go to trindad from tobago as we want to experience the carnival...

Also would liek to book this asap.

Hi,I think the flight is around the £20 price mark,and takes about 25 mins.The ferry is a lot cheaper but takes a few hours.

thansk for that...i checked out the prices and its 80 pounds...


anyway i looked at the ferry service..and thats like 7 pounds which i prefer to pay...

Is it true it takes two hrs...and also do you know if its known to be a rough crossing...if its a big massive ferry then i wont get sea sick....

as i am going from tobago to trin fro the carnival would it be pretty wise to pre book my ferry tickets

£80!!!!! that's expensive! A friend of mine lives in Tobago and regularly flys to Trinidad and i'm sure she said it was around the $40 US each way.
Unless it's gone up dramatically.

Andy D,you are right the fare is(or was they have applied for and increase)TT$220 single or TT$400 return.In Tobago News it is reported that the airline has requested an increase to TT$500 single!!!

Hi Arvi,

I took the ferry two times to Trinidad and back and never get seesick. Once I went with the "normal" ferry and one time with the cat. Both trips where quiet and comfortable. The cat is quicker. Unfortunately I forgot the price of the trip but it was really chep. I will go there late September/early October again and can tell you the price then if it is not too late for you.

Also the carnival in Tobago is really nice but not as impressing as in Trinidad.

Good luck with your booking and enjoy yourself at the carnival. You will love to come back to the quietness in Tobago

Hello everyone,

We recently returned from 4 glorious weeks in Tobago. . During which we visited Trinidad on a number of occassions.

The cost of airtravel on Tobago Express was TT $100 one way or about £9.50 one way. Simply multiply by 2 for a return ticket. The application for an increase in fare has not yet been approved. The service was highly unpredictable, with occassionally long delays.

The cost of the ferry is very very cheap: TT $25 one way or about £2.20 one way, again multiply by 2 for a return ticket. If you take your car the cost for the driver and the vehicle is TT $82.50 one way, about £7.50, simply multiply by 2 for a return ticket. Please purchase your ticket several days in advance, or you can try your luck in the stand by line with no guarentee of getting on.

Purchasing the ferry tickets can be a bit tiring standing in a long seemingly endless line, but you eventually get through in the end, and its a great opportunity for people watching or finishing that long novel! Once you have secured your ticket the rest of the experience is great fun!

The new fast ferry the Cat has temporarily been replaced by the Lynx this is a beautiful Catamaran, painted a boring grey colour, but very fast and elegant in motion. The trip is usually quite smooth and comfortable with central air conditioning (which didn't work very well) and both a bar upstairs and a small eatery downstairs serving either a local breakfast or light snacks depending on when you travelled.

The Lynx takes 2 hours to complete the trip but it takes another 15 to 20 minutes for docking and disembarking.

I recently got the Lynx to Trinidad from Tobago - it was a very pleasant 2 and a half hour trip (and no sea-sickness!). Getting the tickets and boarding the ferry were not, however, pleasant experiences! You cannot buy tickets over the phone, so we had to make a trip down to Scarborough from Charlotteville to purchase them. It was sold out for days in advance, so the earlier you can buy tickets the better! We were told on arriving at the port that the ticket office is only open from 4pm (not sure whether this was only on the particular day we were there, or whether it's open from 4pm every day). The queue for tickets was huge, and moved very slowly. On the day of our ferry we had to queue for ages to board and it was a bit of a scrum (people got very impatient and a bit rude). We had bags with us, which we were told to leave on the car deck of the ferry. There is some system involving numbered tags to help identification of bags which everyone seemed to understand apart from us! We asked a few staff members what we were supposed to do, and encountered some exceptionally rude responses, so gave up with the tags and just dumped out bags- it didn't seem to matter.
