We stayed at the Bacolet Beach hotel in February 2011. It looks stunning and some aspects are good but some are certainly not 4*.
We had problems on our arrival and were initially put into their sister hotel, Half Moon Blue, as they said they were fully booked. We were not at all happy with the inferior accommodation and after asking them to find us another hotel the next day they miraculously found us a room. It was fine apart from a very strong smell of drains and torn see-through curtains.
The staff (with the exception of breakfast) were helpful and cheerful. There was a distinct lack of management which led to poor service and organisation at breakfast. The beach was never cleared and backed by old furnituer, wood and rubbish. We only saw the assitant manager in evidence twice, once when we complained and once when she came back to us. We never saw the manager.
Sun beds were never put out or cleared of the water and sand from the overnight rains. However, the Beach Bar was run by 2 delightful and helpful chaps and was probably the best part of the hotel.
Food in the evening was good and the service much better than the morning but it was overpriced (although not as expensive as most of the other restaurants on the island.)
We were unlucky enough to have bad weather for 7/10 days of our stay and this did colour our view of the island.
