Infinity Villa - Review Page 4
Staff
We arrived at Infinity Villa to a wonderful welcome from manager, Kelson Isaac, and maid, Betty-Ann. They were in a bit of a panic, because the previous guests had left later than expected and we arrived early. Nevertheless, they had a bottle of chilled sparkling wine ready in welcome, a lovely fruit bowl and cool wet face towels that were just so refreshing.
Refreshed, Kelson took us on a comprehensive tour of the villa. His rather theatrical style made this an entertainment as well as a practical duty. Nevertheless, I have to say that it was the most professional villa welcome and hand-over that I have experienced. The overall presentation of the villa was superb.
Unlike ourselves, the vast majority of guests will arrive from the airport. Kelson will be there to meet and greet them before the transfer to the villa. The short journey can include a stop at the main supermarket, if the guests wish to stock up. Otherwise, an overnight package of basic necessities can be arranged. We were very impressed with Sara’s attention to detail during the booking and post-booking stage and they try hard to make every guest’s stay perfect, making extensive effort to arrange any special requests. Baby-sitting arrangements and catering services can be arranged through Kelson.
Betty-Ann attends the property five mornings a week (Monday to Friday). Her normal duties include bed making, refuse removal, towels and flannel changing and general cleaning of kitchen and bathrooms. Once a week she gives the villa a full clean. I was intrigued to see that when she mops the villa’s attractive wooden floors, Betty-Ann adds a discrete amount of citronella to the cleaner. What a wonderful way of helping to keep mosquitoes at bay. It certainly worked!
Beach & Facilities
The small gated community on which Infinity Villa is located belongs to the Blue Haven, an up-market 5* boutique hotel. The hotel provides 24-hour security to the compound. The development currently only has two finished properties and five or six plots are available for sale and future building construction. Given the nature of the development and the pace and nature of construction work on Tobago, I do not envisage that any future development will be intrusive to guests at Infinity.
Steps and a rough path lead directly from the villa to the rocky beach below. Frankly, having done this once we saw little merit in repeating the exercise. However, one of the major attractions of the development is that it has direct access to beautiful Bacolet beach. The two-minute walk from the villa does involve a climb down some thirty steps to the beach, but this will not be an issue to any able-bodied person, although care is obviously needed after rain. Bacolet beach has fairly dark sand but the horseshoe-shaped bay fringed with palms is everyone’s idea of a Caribbean beach. The beach shelves gently and the water is shallow, so rolling breakers are generally present. However, the bay is largely protected from the full force of the Atlantic Ocean by Bacolet Point and generally offers decent swimming.
Villa guests are automatically granted full guest status at the Blue Haven Hotel. This entitles you to use all the facilities of the hotel, including beach chairs and loungers, beach changing facilities and toilets and the beach bar. After arrival, you can register an account with the hotel and then apply all food and drink charges to your account before settling the bill at the end of your stay. Not having to take any cash down to the beach is a big advantage, obviously.
Another advantage is that all adult guests are entitled to a 15-minute complimentary massage with the Blue Haven’s masseur, Anthony. A range of services are available at extra cost and can be conducted either at the hotel’s small spa, or beside the pool or in the privacy of Infinity.
Conclusion
Without doubt, Infinity Villa could offer a wonderful holiday base for up to eight people. The villa is sophisticated and comfortable. The stunning Atlantic views from the cliff-top location and the almost direct access to Bacolet Bay beach place the villa amongst a very small and select group to offer such facilities. Having the full range of facilities of the Blue Haven Hotel is simply icing on the cake.
We normally invite family or friends to join us for the villa section of our review tours, but that didn’t prove possible this year for a variety of reasons. Frankly, as there were only two of us staying, we rather rattled around Infinity. It would have been wonderful to have experienced it with the jolly sounds and atmosphere of a full party. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and certainly have absolutely no hesitation in recommending it to others.
