Ambassador's House - Reader Reports & Opinion

A wonderful place for a family holiday, beautiful (probably the best views in the whole island) and utterly relaxing. A group of 8, ranging from 6 to 67 always had enough space to not bump into each other but the opportunity to be socialable if we wanted. The pool is perfect for small children who can swim a bit - the deep ares is only a very small part of the whole - but just big enough for more serious swimmers. The house is lovely and well equipped (only the oven lets it down) and the grounds are fantastic for nature lovers (many different fruiting trees, snakes, lizards, agoutis, bats and 40+ species of birds - unfortunately we couldn't find a tarantula!). THere is no AC, but we never needed it - there is always a breeze from one direction or another, and the ceiling fans are very efficient. Be prepared to get fat - Lesleyanne, the housekeeper, is a wonderful cook!
Because of our numbers and our age range, we managed without transport, but if you want to visit the beach regularly,or if you want to shop daily, you will need a car (and a head for coping with a really difficult entrance / exit).

Staying at ambassadors house at windy edge was a wonderful and unexpected experience for the summer vacation. although slightly away from the limelight the villa is one of total uniqueness and offers much peace quiet and relaxation for vacationers and tourist

My party of four could not have been happier with our stay in ambassador's House. We wanted to stay somewhere real not a purpose built holiday rental and this home was perfect! The layout of the house while open plan and sociable still offered the option for privacy. The Gardens, the pool. the views and the bird song - we felt we were in paradise!.
On the practical side every implement you could need in the kitchen is provided including cooking basics washing powder etc (not a holiday norm)Lesley ann the beautiful housekeeper is a daily advantage too, any requests were dealt with speedily. Both the house and gardens are maintained to a very high standard and I could not if I tried find any fault with this holiday home rental.
We loved our stay and will return!

We enjoyed Ambassador House for one week in March as a large extended family (10 in all). In short, Ambassador House did not disappoint in the least. In fact, the house surpassed our expectations. This villa is special. Unlike many other rentals that are in high density developments, Ambassador House's spacious grounds make you feel like you have your own private tropical garden compound. The villa is also built to a high standard and works superbly for large groups. The views, garden, privacy, breezes and constant birdsong combine to create an exotic and relaxing atmosphere that I have not experienced on any of my other many caribbean holidays. The housekeeper LesleyAnn is pure gold and her cooking is the best on the island. Guests of Ambassador House must appreciate that this is a family home, not an investment property focused singularly on turning a profit. Some features may not be as glamorous as one would find elsewhere (bathroom fixtures are simple and functional, furniture is practical). However, for the reasons mentioned above, Ambassador House is the place to stay for sophisticated travellers, who know and love the West Indies. While your own vehicle is essential, it is conveniently located to one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, Bacolet Bay. Grocery stores, banks etc are all a 10 min drive away. We hope to return again as a family next year for a longer visit. In the meantime, we will cherish our memories of a beautiful vacation at Ambassador House.

I enjoyed a wonderful break with my teenage daughters at the Ambassadorís house in August. We had never been to Tobago before, and found the house and the Island enchanting, marvellous sunsets and tranquil yet exotic surroundings. Although it was the rainy season the often welcome and dramatic showers were short lived and the sunshine would return within minutes of them passing.
The house is in a unique location with wonderful views over both the Caribbean and Atlantic and is totally private with a fantastic array of exotic birds in the garden. We found it very comfortable with a large veranda running around the whole of the outside providing a perfect place to sit at any time of the day. The location of the house is perfect for exploring the island and is only ten minutes from a local beach. We were very disappointed when we had to move into a hotel for our second week on the Island and will definitely returning to Tobago and the Ambassadorís house next year.
