Little House on the Hill is a great place to stay, and we enjoyed the beautiful scenery. However, we didn't spend much time there, so we didn't really get to enjoy the full benefits, since the rest of the group we were with all stayed at the Naturalist and so we were down at the beach with them mostly. So, we made the 10 min hike down to the beach each day, which is good exercise, and we met friendly people along the way. I think the house could use air conditioning. The 1 fan for 2 bedrooms isn't enough. Opening the windows did not bring enough cooling, and because of the bugs, we didn't open them much. Marguerite is a great host, and if we had stayed longer, I would have enjoyed getting to know her more.

The Little House in general is a really nice place to stay. One of the great deals is the setting, really up on the hill, in between the lush green of a nice garden; but unfortunately this is a problem, too. Even round noon, when the sun is high and itīs hot, there is always a lot of humidity, cause of the plants. The result is, that youīre attacked by mosquitos and all kinds of bugs during the whole day, not only in the dawn. If this is not a problem, than the Little House is a great place to stay. A walk of 45 minutes leads you to the best beach of Tobago at Englishmans bay - marvelous!

I stayed at the smaller Little House on the Hill for 4 days in Aug. Perfect for one person (or a great intimate getaway for a couple), this is the place to come if you want to get away from the commercial touristy vibe that comes with staying at a hotel. Tucked on a hillside amongst beautiful fruit trees and birdlife, this traditional wooden house and surrounds offers one a touch of the magic of local island life.

Marguerite is a treasure, she made me feel instantly at home and looked after, even though I was staying there alone. The larger Little House on the Hill was unoccupied when I was there but due to how the two houses are placed I did not feel that it would have been too much of an intrusion if it were occupied.

The layout of the smaller Little House on the Hill is ingenious, with the ensuite bedroom through one entrance and the kitchen through another entrance, both leading off the patio, which serves as an outside lounge complete with sofa chair!

Mosquitos are not an issue as the bed has nets, and there is a standing fan; the traditional roof lets the breeze flow through the house for cooling, and with the usual addition of coils you should have no problems.

Beautiful Castara is a very short drive away (would not recommend walking unless you are quite energetic, lots of hills).

I would definately stay here again, as I said the smaller Little House is perfect if you are a solo traveller, this was definately the highlight of my trip. Looking forward to the next time!

We stayed at Little House On The Hill for 4 weeks in February-March 2010 and we had a wonderful vacation.

Marguarite and Sherwin were very friendly and took good care of us.

One of the attractions with Little House On The Hill we think is to live surrounded by local people and to follow there everyday life, the people were very friendly to us.

The distans to the beach was not a problem to us insted we think it was very positiv because we really liked our walks up and down 2-3 times a day. It made us feel good and we met a lot of people and got good excercise.

We enjoyed sitting on the big veranda with a wonderful view down the valley, looking at all the colourful birds, cocks, hen and chickens, fruit trees that surrounding the cottage.

The small cottage next door was emty during our visit and did not affect us at all but we like to have our own space so maybe if you have friends living next door it dosnīt matter but otherwise we are not certain we wood like to have somebody else so close.

We really enjoyed our visit and we felt almost at home efter 4 weeks and didnīt want to leave but we hope to return someday and we certanly want to live at Little House On The Hill again.

Thank you Marguarite and Sherwin, we hope to see you again.
